From the Publisher
Peter Green is one of the foremost professional handlers in America today, with four Best in Show wins at Westminster and a host of other prestigious accomplishments to his credit. Mario Migliorini has been a successful breeder, trainer, and handler on two continents. He has also written more than twenty-five books and numerous articles in many major magazines.

From the Author
New Secrets of Successful Show Dog Handling supports the idea that, with a little help, the majority of owner-handlers can learn to show their dogs successfully. As yet, information cannot be injected directly into the brain or served up like instant soup; regardless of the discipline, acquiring and refining superior skills takes time and effort. Even so, there’s no reason to do everything the hard way. Aspiring handlers can capitalize from the information in this book which has been accumulated by the authors from years of experience in the ring. In addition to basic handling techniques, neophytes must learn the subtleties of the game. This book will help them avoid the kind of frustrating experiences beginners once were compelled to endure under the guise of paying their dues.

Customer Reviews

Great book with lots of pictures!5
This is a great book for anyone learning how to handle dogs. It gives you great pictures of how you are supposed to stack dogs. Other books tell you how to do it, but lack pictures. This also uses a variety of breeds in their pictures. It goes over stacking on the ground vs. stacking on the table. It also does a good job explaining the dog show world, which can be confusing for newcomers. I highly recommend this book...even more than George Alston's book (another great one!).

Not what I was Looking for3
This book would be helpful for anyone beginning showing dogs. They really needn't know anything. If you already know what a show is, how to enter and have been in the ring before, you're probably not going to get much out of this. I have a few books on showing that far outwiegh this one. It's basic, simple and for complete novices only...It is written well, and is easy to understand. If this is to be your first book on dog showing, then it will provide you with enough info to get you started. I preferred, The Winning Edge: Show Ring Secrets (Howell Reference Books) and Tricks of the Trade: From Best Intentions to Best in Show, Revised Edition

Excellent5
This is the first show book I read. It was also a previous edition. When I finished the book I searched until I found an updated version and bought it right away. Even the old book was a bounty of information. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is beginning in the show ring. It's easy to read with a lot of really great pointers that still apply today. I read the whole thing!
