Nice toy, poor training device
The hardware itself is well-built. The display is high-contrast and easy to read, and the buttons have a good feel and are laid out rationally. The problem is with the software.

The biggest problem is the fact that this device has the dealer stand on 16 (hard or soft), not 17, making the device useless for practicing Basic Strategy. There are a few other quirks with the software. A player's three or more card 21 wins instantly--no push against a dealer's 21. Also, the dealer doesn't expose his natural, allowing you to double-down or split against it and lose twice (but also allows you to surrender against it). You are only allowed to double-down on a 10 or ace, a rule seldom found in shoe games. An ace-9 combination shows up as "10", not "20", but settles the bet correctly if you stand. And due to screen size limitation, you must stand on any six card hand; fortunately, so must the dealer.

All in all, a nice toy, but not a serious blackjack trainer.

Not a top quality blackjack toy for the money
The blackjack game does not exhibit odds. You can't double-down on multiple hands (Las Vegas permits you doing this). The hit button is overly sensitive--two cards are dealt instead of one. I question about the true randomness of the cards dealt.

Big Screen Black Jack is Cruel!
This game is fun and I'm glad I bought it, but I have to say the programming must have been designed by a sadist! Be prepared to be hammered mercilessly. These things are supposed to be fun and it mostly is, but the game is a bit too "tight" and will really get to you if you let it. Forget about ever building up a lot of points!

It also sometimes exhibits a fault (bug) where, when you press the Draw button, the machine draws twice, almost always resulting in you losing the hand. It's sturdy but try not to throw the unit down in disgust-this could be a challenge...
