Top Notch Software
I thought myself an expert at Photoshop 6.0 and finally took the plunge and got the latest version that I could afford - CS3 Extended (version 10). This programs is so feature rich, it is mind boggling!

The item comes on two DVDs. The first DVD is he program and lots (I mean LOTS) of extras. The second DVD is packed with how-to videos.

The program runs fast! The only thing that is slowing me down is third-party filters I've installed. They are old but worthy, but are the only thing that causes delays when using this version of Photoshop.

A short list of some of the more amazing features is -

- Settings for resizing -- one optimized for reducing size, one for increasing size, one for maintaining smooth gradients

- An extrememly customizable workspace. This is so flexible, it is daunting, but in the end, you get to work the way you want to. My settings afford me the maximum amount of real estate for viewing my work.

- A comprehensive help system that seems to include everything (only "seems", 'cause I haven' the time or need to view the whole thing). The help system also links you to online help videos!

- Numerous selection tools to help you isolate image elements and promote them to layers, or work on the same layer to perform blurring or sharpening. This is a huge time saver!

- Layerable (readjustable) adjustments and filters. These allow you to edit them later if you need to tweak a setting.

- Plenty of extras. Filters come with the package, and one you can use to build your own filters. There are a few stock photos included. You can also write your own help how-to's, for things you do that are difficult to remember. You can create and save your own brushes very easily. You can share your brushes and use other people's brush collections too. The program also includes a few new high quality fonts.

- Speed! This version is fast, fast, fast! It is my guess that it is CS2, ported to assembly code, then new features are added. CS3 runs FAST!

Photoshop is not just a photo editing program. It can also be used for high end, pixel based graphics creation tool. It has some vector based features, and all in all, it excels at both!

With CS4 adding even more features, but at an extremely expensive price, CS3 is a darn good investment because it saves you lots of money and still performs EXCELLENTLY!

My recommendation is to buy this without hesitation if you're either new to Photoshop or using an earlier version. CS3 is a very mature and stable product and perhaps the most sophisticated software I own. I am absolutely delighted with it and know that you will be too. Just buy it! It wrocks!

I finally found an Amazon seller that had one of these left and had a great price. I didn't really have a need for CS4, so I bought this one. I have used Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop elements but finding training for both left a lot to be desired. So I finally went ahead and got Photoshop. I am glad I did. This is much more powerful than I ever knew and after taking some Deke McClelland training I can actually use the tools instead of trying to hunt for tutorials all day on the Internet. Now I can get actual work done. Worth it for me.
