Product Description
The Remo Buffalo drums are inspired by the frame drums of the Native American Cultures. They come with a rope handle and soft tipped beater. The standard style has a plain white head. Decorate your drum head with your own muse. All Remo Buffalo drums are manufactured with Remo's Fiberskyn 3 drumheads and patented ACOUSTICON drum shells. These drum shells produce the same tonal characteristic found on traditional wood shell drums with excellent projection and enhanced low-pitched fundamentals. You can play Remo's Buffalo drum in virtually any weather condition and they will keep their pitch sounding great.

Customer Reviews
Excellent, durable drum
I've had my 16" Remo Buffalo Drum for 5-6 years, buying it after my made-by-my-own-hands elk-skin drum went dead in damp weather once too often. I love my handmade drum, but the Remo is fail-proof: NO tone change with moisture, even during hours in a Sweat Lodge. It also won't shrink and crack if left in a hot car. It's also quite lightweight, a concern if you'll be drumming for extended periods.
Of possible interest to vegans and others on a nature-oriented path: No tree was sacrificed to create the frame, no animal for the head. The materials are entirely human-created. I was initially concerned this might feel soul-less, but that hasn't been the case. The head can be painted and takes acrylic very well; mine is decorated on the inside of the frame, using colored pencils.
Plays great with a beater - very resonant, so you needn't knock yourself out whacking it hard - and also yields a variety of tones when played by hand. NOTE: The beater that comes with this drum feels quite short (but it fits inside the drum). I replaced mine with one with a longer stick (which doesn't fit completely inside the drum) and a fleece-padded head, which I prefer for the sound.
Anyway, a great product and seemingly indestructible!
