Great choice for anyone in IT and not just admins5
Had this for few weeks now and read it cover to cover. As always, Stanek's writing is concise and clear, and like all his books, this one's packed with useful info and expert insights. Although it says "administrator" in the title, it's an excellent choice for anyone wanting a deeper understanding of Windows 7. I'll also add that at around 700 pages and having more useful info than some books with 2x the pages, there's nothing pocket-sized about this book (but the book is light and easy to tote around).

A must have, this is a great resource!5
William Stanek is one of the leading authorities on all things Microsoft for a reason--he knows his stuff better than just about anyone else and his books are always chock full of useful advice. The book zeroes in on administration topics that anyone in IT can use to deploy, configure and manage Windows 7.

The depth and scope of the book is amazing, considering its only about 700 pages. No other author I've found is able to examine advanced topics so clearly while at the same time being so concise. The author excels at getting to the point, telling you the hows and whys and more.

Very helpful, very focused, should be in every IT library. Also great for those who want the more advanced topics not typically covered in other books. In short, don't see how you can go wrong with this one.

Good, you'll use it5
I purchased this book because I've found all of William Stanek's other tech books to be so freaking amaziing. Never ceases to amaze me how he packs more into his books than anyone else and all while writing with the crisp clarity he is known for. Stanek knows more about Windows than any 10 other Win gurus put together and that expertise shows throughout. As others have said, there's lots of expert insights and tips unique to the author.

Anyone who wants to know more about Win7 owes it to themselves to get this book. Every developer and admin where I consult have at least 3 or 4 of Stanek's books. His books more often than not are on the desks of the eng and support techs too. This is because Stanek knows his stuff and he knows how to get to the point. Priced at 1/2 of most other books, it's a good value. As I've done with his other pocket books in the past (and passed my exams btw) I'm using it along with a cert guide to study for my exams.
