The creators of Touched by an Angel were clearly of the philosophy "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The Third Season following squarely and steadfastly in the footsteps of the second, taking emotionally fraught stories--a dedicated teacher gets kidnapped by a troubled student, a drug addict tries to set her life on the right path, a young couple call off their wedding--and brings them to a happy conclusion through the intervention of the Lord, working His mysterious ways through three angels: Monica (Roma Downey, she of the flowing brunette hair and Irish lilt), Tess (Della Reese, she of the white forelock and the gravely voice), and Andrew, an Angel of Death (John Dye, he of the sweeping Fabio-esque mane and full cheeks). It's never quite clear just how much the angels are allowed to interfere with mortal doings. In one episode, Monica gets sent to God's Country--a sort of metaphysical detention--but it's hard to say that her actions were any more out of bounds than usual. Touched by an Angel is a love-it-or-hate-it show; cynics find it smug and didactic, while fans are drawn to its sincere and caring portrayal of Christian values. As ever, the series pulls in a surprising mix of guest stars, ranging from movie stars on the rise (Kirsten Dunst, Bring It On, Spider-Man) and on the wane (Sally Kellerman, the big-screen version of M*A*S*H), TV stars (John Ritter, Three's Company; Delta Burke, Designing Women; Ja'net Dubois, Good Times; Ben Vereen, Roots), and sturdy character actors (Olympia Dukakis, Moonstruck; Harold Gould and Carol Lawrence, guest stars on just about every show imaginable in the 1970s and '80s). The Third Season, Vol. 1 includes the first 16 episodes from the 1996-1997 season, including the episode that launched the spin-off show, Promised Land, with Gerald McRaney and Ossie Davis. There are no extras on the dvds. --Bret Fetzer

The reason why it is being split in two5
I know it is a pain but I doubt any of you even know why Season 3 is being split in two. The reason is because Season 3 has an abnormally large number of shows in it, mainly because it has numerous Promise Land crossovers, and the rights to Promise Land have to be bought as well. They aren't doing this just to be mean. They didn't do this for season 1 or 2 and I doubt this will happen to any other season either. So please calm down, everyone.

Touched by an Angle, Third Season, Vol. 15
Being a single parent of many children, I appreciate good programs that can help my children and I to have feelings about our own lives, and others in situations that could happen. These shows get into our hearts and helps us to feel what it might be like for someone else when we watch the movies, and also helps us to stop and think about our own lives and if we are doing our best, or if we could do better in the way that we treat others. I wish there were more shows like this.

Do Your Own Comparison .....5
Complete season sets of Andy Griffith contain 32 episodes, each fitting into a half-hour time slot. They sell for roughly $30. TBAA season 3, set 1 contains 16 episodes, each for a one-hour time slot. It also sells for roughly $30. I don't see any disparity there and will not be complaining to anyone. I am most happy to have this program available to buy and am glad that it is being marketed at a very competitive price. I, like many others, would be willing to pay more if it were necessary, simply because this is such a great series. True fans will buy all of the seasons...if they are released...any way they are released...for any reasonable price. The digital conversion that was done on the first two seasons was excellent. Picture quality is great, and if you've never heard the opening theme song through a good surround-sound system with LOTS of bass you're in for a real treat! What a theme song ... and what a voice! Della..."you done good"!!! Well, this is one satisfied customer: with the first two seasons in-hand and the first part of season 3 on the way I am supremely happy that the series is still alive and available to those of us who love it. I hope the entire series is released. I will do my part by buying all of them that are. Hopefully there are enough of us to make it profitable and feasible.
