Coastal Cruising, CY
Ahoy, I'm sure some of you are future Cruisers or just looking for sources of new or additional information. This is a Good book just take Claiborne with a Grain of Salt. I've met Claiborne a couple of times over the years (and spoke with him), he's a good writer but... His glasses are considerable thicker than mine as we don't see places the same. His definition of "Rustic" and mine of "DUMP" are the same. Some usable information, worth Amazons price.
Enthusiastically recommended for area boaters, whether residents or vacationers.
Now in a revised sixth edition, Cruising Guide to Costal South Carolina and Georgia is an in-depth guide to every last marina, anchorage, creek, nook, and cranny along the South Carolina and Georgia coastline. Author Clairborne Young has applied his years of experience boating in sailcraft and powerboats and personally visited every body of water referenced in this local's-eye-view guide. Maps and black-and-white photographs add a visual touch to the richly detailed descriptions sure to appeal to armchair travelers as well as boat travelers. Cruising Guide to Coastal South Carolina and Georgia is a travel guide, not a how-to guide; the reader's familiarity with principles of nautical operation and safety is presumed, and the main focus is upon the marvelous sights, sounds, and history of the South Carolina and Georgia coast. Enthusiastically recommended for area boaters, whether residents or vacationers.
Not a Cruising Guide
This book has so little information on cruising and so much on restaurants and B&B's I cannot fathom the title. It is more of a travel guide like a Fodor's than anything that will assist you to cruise this coast in a boat. Depth information, chartlets, anchorages etc etc receive little or no mention. Who needs a B&B when cruising?
