OmniMount U3 Tilt - Excellent Product!5
After finally taking the plunge for a plasma, I was forced to choose between the various wall-mounts compatible with a Panasonic TH-42PD50U. Panasonic offered various wall-mounts, but they were somewhat overpriced. The OmniMount U3 Tilt appealed to me primarily because of price, and it did not disappoint. The U3 Tilt was extremely easy to install. It includes a mounting template and various bolts and spacers, making it compatible with just about any large plasma. The silver powder-coated finish is also visually appealing, especially with a silver display.

The U3 Tilt is well constructed, and if I had to select a single shortcoming, it would be that the viewing angle cannot be locked into place once the plasma is hung on the mount. It is necessary to lock the viewing angle before hanging the plasma because of the large ergonomic handles used to hand-tighten the bolts.

In regard to the other reviews which mention discrepancies in the size of the pilot holes, both the mounting template and the installation instructions I received instructed me to drill 1/4" pilot holes, and this worked well for 3/8" bolts.

Overall, this product is highly recommended!

THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE ALL WRONG... WARNING....1
I am not writing to tell you that the build quality of this item is bad... it's not. I like the mount and I believe the overall construction of it is solid...

It is the instructions I am warning you about. There are two sets... One on the Instruction Sheet. The other is on a Mounting Template that you stick on the wall... THE MOUNTING TEMPLATE INSTRUCTIONS ARE WRONG... PERIOD... They tell you to drill the holes with a 3/8" drill bit for a 3/8" screw... Anyone can tell you that you drill a smaller pilot hole for a screw (it ruined my build in cabinetry and I had to rebuild the entire frame to make this thing work.

The 3/8" pilot hole is inconsistent with the Written instructions that tell you to drill a 1/4" pilot... Hard to ratchet in place but does work.

Next... To find the right screws for your plasma (11 sets are provided) you will need to go to the omnimount web site for specs... But the details about what "screw" to use on the web site (and the corresponding letter "code) on the written instructions that came with the unit are completely contradictory (Even their tech support admitted the problem with the inconsistent coding of the parts).

IF YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT - USE COMMON SENSE WHEN INSTALLING.. FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCTS... AND BEST OF LUCK...

Nice but confusing to mount3
As mentioned by the other reviewer, this mount's instruction is very confusing. Beware of the drill hole mismatch as mentioned. Go with the 1/4" drill bit when drilling the mounting screw guiding holes.

The lettering on the screws are definately messed up! However, you are only going to use one set of the screws (4 of them). Those will be the set that will fit into your mounting holes on your Plasma or LCD TV. I used a screw driver as a guage on how wide and deep the mounting holes are on my Plasma TV and then measure that against the sets of provided screws. I round up using the largest set(I think it is H) with the 4 square washers and the 2 TV mounts for my TH42PA25U Panasonic Plasma TV.

As far as the other provided screws and materials, I used the large anchor type screws (4 of them, you can not mistaken them, the biggest of all screws provided) for the studs on the wall and the washers(4 of them), which are right next to the anchor screws. It mentioned not to use the plastic anchors for drywalls. So make sure you find the middle of your studs before you start ratcheting in your anchor screws.

I am not sure if I need to use the spacers (1 and 2), which are mislabeled BTW. But they do have the "1" and "2" on them if you look carefully. I did not have to use my extension brackets so I can not say how easy or hard to install them.

READ THE INSTRUCTION OVER TWICE before you start! and Good Luck..
