These issues show the various Freedom Fighters meeting up (usually by Sonic saving them), which was later changed in the series by having them all be childhood friends. Also shown is when Robotnik first took over. Fun tidbit: Sally was originally blonde in these issues, which was an inside joke among the friends for some time. Issues 0-3 of the original miniseries. Also called Sonic Archives 0.

Issue 6 features an adaptation of the game Sonic Spinball. Issues 5-8.

Issue 13 introduces Knuckles the echidna, Sonic's sometimes friend and nemesis. The same issue adapts the events from the game Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Issue 16 begins the brief period in which Sonic and Sally keep getting "married". Issues 13-16.

Issue 22 features a glimpse of Sonic and Sally's possible future, #23 foreshadows the relationship of Bunnie and Antoine (which won't show for some time), while #24 has the whole gang battling their alternate selves, and lightly touches upon the beginning of the quest to save Sally's father. The 3 issue Princes Sally miniseries (not included) takes place during these issues. Issues 21-24.

Issue 29 introduces Dulcy the dragon, #30 features the return of Sonic's beloved Uncle Chuck, as well as the beginning of the Knuckles side stories, which run through to #37 and his own three issue miniseries (not included). Geoffrey from Sally's mini pops up in #31, as a rival to Sonic, and soon becomes a permanent fixture at Knothole. "Knuckles' Chaotix" takes place after #30. Issues 29-32.

Issues 39 involves a robotocized Sonic, and Sally calling in Knuckles to stop him. Issue 40 finds Sonic being accused and convicted of treason. "Mecha Madness" takes place after #39. Issues 37-40.

Issues 45-48.

Three Super Special issues: "Sonic In Your Face" which offers a tantalizing glimpse of a happy ending for the Freedom Fighters and the origins of Sally's computer Nicole; "Sonic & Knuckles" an adaptation of the game Sonic & Knuckles; and "Sonic Triple Trouble" an adaptation of the game Sonic Triple Trouble, with the introduction of the bounty hunter Nack. Also includes one story from "Sonic Live".
