Editorial Reviews
Review
This book will supplement and enhance my own works and teaching. Mr. Scherkenbach's masterful understanding of a system, of a process, of a stable system, and of an unstable system are obvious and effective in his work as well as his teaching.
Mr. Scherkenbach exposes in a masterful way the inadequacy of zero defects. It is no longer sufficient just to meet specifications, no longer sufficient to have the customer not complain. It is necessary, for good business, to have customers that boase about your product or service, stay with you, and bring a friend for new business.
I cannot refrain from feeling satisfaction that Mr. Scherkenbach took all my courses at the Graduate School of Business Administration of the New York University over a period of years, and that I have had the pleasure to work with him and learn from him in the Ford Motor Company -- W. Edwards Deming, May 1986
From the Publisher
This is the first of Scherkenbach's own books. The book has gained world-wide acceptance since being published in 1986. More than 300,000 copies have been printed so far in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, and Chinese.
From the Author
I was honored when Dr. Deming asked me to write this book. I am amazed at the impact that it has had on people. It probably is because it is a quick read.
Customer Reviews
Author has a newer book
This book is a very good summary of The Fourteen Points, developed by W. Edwards Deming. However, William W. Scherkenbach has a newer book that actually comments on many portions of Deming's work and gives excellent information on how to implement these ideas in your company. The title of this newer book is "Deming's Road to Continual Improvement," published by SPC Press
Good Summary
This was a good summary for busy managers. It covers the major ideas in a quick to read format.
