The Polk DSW PRO 400 uses an 8-inch woofer and powerful 180-watt amplifier to produce deep, authoritative bass. This advanced subwoofer features Polk's exclusive Feed Forward(TM) technology, which reduces audible distortion without limiting volume. You get quick, precise response throughout the sub's entire frequency range, even at ground-shaking volume levels. The Polk DSW PRO 400 also includes the Polk Room Optimizer(TM), an ingenious feature that lets you specify the location of your sub with one of four options — corner, mid-wall, in-cabinet, or mid-room. The Optimizer then automatically equalizes the sub's response to ensure smooth, clean bass from that position. You can easily access this function, as well as the volume control and phase switch, with the included remote. Removable feet let you position the PRO 400 for either front-firing or down-firing operation, whichever you prefer. The all-new DSW PRO Series represents more than a significant step forward in subwoofer performance. Rather, with the incorporation of two proprietary Polk Audio technologies that offer clearly discernable benefits, you might want to think of the new DSW PRO Series as representing a new subwoofer performance standard. Loud & Low Specs(CEA2010): Low 114 db / Ultra 91 db

Customer Reviews
nice sub
I recently upgraded speakers to Polk RTi-A3's (front) and smaller Polks on the wall (rear). I was still using an old Audiosource sub, figuring that a sub is a sub, what's the difference?
So, off to Tweeter I went to check subs out. I auditioned the DSWPRO400 and the PSW110. The DSWPRO400 won. Listening to music, it blends really well with the RTi-A3's, is crisp, precise and punchy, (not boomy or muddy like with the old sub). For movies I use the remote to turn it up a bit and it does just what it's supposed to. It's not a house shaker, just great bottom.
DSW Pro 400 issues
We just received our second DSW Pro 400 subwoofer within a week from Amazon and both have not worked right out of the box. We received the first subwoofer last Friday 10/17/08. It had solid lights in the back power indication LEDs, the front Blue LED appeared to operate and indicate controls where working but no audio out. I still have my old Onkyo powered subwoofer and it works with the receiver and RCA cable just fine.
Amazon was happy to send an immediate replacement and we received it today 10/24/08. I plugged it in and the only indication is a steady blinking green light at the back power indicator. This is when the unit is set to Auto and On. The indicator blinks yellow when set to Standby. The remote will not turn the unit on from Standby and I do not get a any indication from the front Blue LED at any time.
2 for 2 out of the box not working, I can not give a higher rating than one. I have a e-mail into Polk customer service and will wait to hear from them before returning the unit back to Amazon. Needless to say, we are very disappointed with this product.
Defective Product
Let me tell you first, that I'm a huge fan of Polk speakers. All of my home theater and car speakers are Polk. That said, the DSW PRO 400 I received did not work. As problems can happen with anything, I do not fault Polk for this. In fact, I returned it to Amazon, with no hassle, and ended up purchasing the DSW PRO 500. The PRO 500 is a perfect match for my home theater. Bombs, in movies, shake my floor. Enough said.
