About the Author
Katie Pasquini Masopust, known for her mandalas, dimensional quilts, and fractured landscapes, has won many awards. Her quilt Rio Hondo was named one of the Twentieth Century’s 100 Best Quilts in 1999. She lives in Santa Fe.

Brett Barker, a painter and studio artist who teaches art to children and adults, runs Sun Studios Creativity Center. She lives in Santa Fe.

Good color and composition course for quilters
I took a basic color and design class at a community college about a decade ago. We worked through similiar exercises to those in this book, but with paper, not with fabric as in this book. If you have wanted to take a basic color and design class at a college but don't have the time or resources, this is an excellent book. The only thing I like better about the college class is that you have a real person demanding your homework!

Improve your skills
If you hated homework you won't like this book, but if you are willing to follow the instructions and trust the authors to lead you to new skills, you will come away from the lessons in this book with a better understanding of drawing and coloring ways to add to your personal style of making art quilts. I will do this and look forward to the experience!
