About the Author
Rev. A.L. Carpenter, BA; Mdiv; PhD has been a pastor and evangelist for many years and has witnessed firsthand the growing militancy in our mainline Churches. Why do Churches advocate the Christians participation in war and violence? How do we turn the Church back to its roots of pacifism? These are the subjects of this book that will challenge you to take a “second look” at the direction your Church may be headed.

good history of the change in attitude of the Christian church
Dr. Carpenter's books is a good investigation of the manner that the Christian church changed its attitude from one of a pacifist and anti-war stance to one supporting war and military. Although the book is not lengthy, and can be read in a couple of hours, his attitude that contemporary churches have capitulated to the state to gain recognition and favor is information. This is a must for every priest and pastor, and the decision to be made by each: what is the priority in obedience: God or the state?
