Average customer review:Product Description
Pointing Labrador retrievers are rapidly becoming a very popular sporting breed. Just as comfortable sitting patiently in a duck blind as they are coursing through upland fields, pointing Labradors are now known as all-around bird dogs. This book outlines everything that needs to be done, from choosing the right puppy and the basics of obedience, to training a top-notch pointing Labrador. Photographs complement the thorough descriptions of training techniques, and topics as varied as how dogs really perceive the world to which drills and routines are productive are explained.

The authority on pointing Labradors
This book took me from not knowing anything about the breed and what made the difference in pointing labs, to well rounded and having a foundation to learn so much more about these amazing dogs. The Knutsons really have done it right with this book, they go from prior to purchising the dog, all the way to the finnished lab. If you are intrested in this type of dog I suggest you make sure the dog has some good pointers in its breed, and it is not an average lab from the classified ads. If you want a dog that can do upland as good or better then the common pointing dogs, and can also go get that duck in the middle of the pond, this is the book. I have never seen a book cover so much and make it so easy for the reader to understand and do, if you want an outstanding pointing lab, buy this book before you buy your dog.
The Pointing Labrador
This is a no nonsense, practical guide to a very special type of dog, the Pointing Labrador. The book is written by an expert pointing labrador trainer couple with years of experience which they are willing to line out in their book for the average pointing lab owner. Starting with how to pick a puppy, beautiful pictures, to tips on practically everything involved with the rearing and training of this very special breed of dog. Very well written, easy to pick up and read about certain topics of interest, enjoyable and not too wordy or complicated. The emphasis in this book reinforces the idea that the training process can be fun for you and the dog, very positive.
Remember the internet in 1995?
A lot of old Labrador hands are scoffing at the notion of a Labrador that is also a staunch pointer. Remember the internet in 1995? No one believed it was possible, either. Get ready for the next wave in Labradors--pointing Labs. It's the real deal, and Paul and Julie are the best in the business at training pointing Labs. They've titled more pointing Labs than all the rest of the trainers combined, including this year's National Hunting Dog Association Overall National Champion. Rex Eaves' "Harley" beat out over 250 dogs--flushers, pointers, and retrievers--to win the national title. (He was trained by the Knutsons and his photo is in the center of the book, on a goose hunt.)
