Amazon.com Review
The grandson of the legendary German automobile designer, F.A. Porsche has achieved an international design reputation of his own, beginning first with the Porsche 911 and then moving on to myriad other products, such as this classy drip coffeemaker. Synthesizing form and function and utilizing advanced materials are Porsche's hallmarks, and they are immediately evident in the coffeemaker's timeless beauty. Comprising twin cylindrical columns joined in the middle, the coffeemaker is clad in brushed aluminum, with rugged, dark-purple plastic trim. It's heavy and substantial, perfect for an executive office or contemporary kitchen. It measures 14-1/2 inches high, 12 inches wide, and 5 inches deep (not including handles).

Powered by 1,000 watts, the coffeemaker brews eight 5-ounce cups directly into a heavy glass-insulated carafe whose top pops up when it's disengaged from the brewing spout, preventing heat from escaping and air from entering to spoil the coffee's flavor and aroma. A swing- out filter basket (for a permanent gold-tone filter) above the carafe completes the right-hand cylinder. The left-hand cylinder consists of a removable water tank that mirrors the carafe's shape and has an external gauge. Below that is a stainless-steel heating element and two bar-shaped pushbutton controls. One is the on/off switch and the other permits brewing either two to four cups or five to eight, a refinement that ensures proper brewing times. Push-in cord storage reduces clutter. --Fred Brack

An amazing coffee pot but beware4
To begin with, I am a coffee addict. My morning ritual starts with grinding "just the right beans" and chasing the perfect half a pot. I'm probably on my eighth or ninth coffee maker over the years, and it's actually interesting why I change "equipment". The makers themselves never really seem to wear out, rather I get tired of them or their inadequacies - too slow, too ugly, I'm just over it - always something.
This thing is by far the best looking and the smartest design. The way you put the water in is simple and ingenius. It automatically shuts off after brewing, and stores the coffee in a sealed canister - again great!! And again, I can't stress enough how beautiful it is!!
My problem with it is this - mine came completely disfunctionable. I put the water in and out it immediatly leaked, all over my counter. After many four letter words, being somewhat mechanically inclined, I decided to take it apart to trouble shoot, before I "send it back". I waited so long for this thing (back ordered at the time), the thought of another long wait was unbearable!
Long story short, I fixed it and it now works perfectly, and I'm really happy. It was very challanging however to repair - got quite the education to the innerworkings of coffee makers. Every single part inside was disconnected from where it should go. ... Bottom line - Porsche hit a home run. Bosch put it together in a way the needs improvement, or sombody somewhere should reexamine shipping and packaging standards - especially for the retail price. Just beware>
Update: Since I've written this commentary, a very professional and diligent representative from Bosch has contacted me, and offered to replace mine - immediately no wait. He also through in a grinder for my troubles! Good guy, good company, great followthrough!

Finally! Beauty and Function Meet Here5
Perhaps due to Scandinavian genes, I am a very serious coffee drinker. I have tested (for over 45 years) every coffee and coffee maker known to humankind. The perfect coffee maker has finally been made and this is it. The flavor of the coffee is spectacular. Every aspect of function has been thought out including the non staining/spotting brushed aluminum of the coffee maker and thermos. I now have 5 friends who have purchased them. Another terrific aspect to these coffee makers is that you will never have to remodel your kitchen. They are stunningly beautiful. Put it on your counter and wait for the compliments. After all these years and coffee makers, I am finally extremely happy. Hansine Pedersen Goran

Nice looking and brews coffee too.4
I bought this coffeemaker (and the matching blender) for my husband because I knew he would appreciate the design, and he does. However, he was already hooked on his Cuisinart DCC-1200 with the clock/timer, programmable, beeps when the coffee is done features so he took the Cuisinart to the office with him and he uses his new Bosch on the weekends. I don't drink coffee myself.

You must hold the water tank in your left hand to fill it and see the water level indicator at the same time. This can be a little awkward for right-handers. Even so, it's still great to have a removable water tank.

Since the carafe isn't glass and you can't see the contents without looking inside, you can easily cause an overflow if you forget to empty the carafe before you start a new pot.

Overall, it does a fine job of brewing coffee and looks great on the counter. But it is only worth the money if you really like the look.
