Product Description

The Amcor ALD 12000M portable air conditioner is designed to fit most average-size rooms up to 400sq.ft. Manual controls are specifically recommended for use in Server rooms. In case of a power failure, the unit will automatically restart when power resumes. This model also functions as a 65 pint dehumidifier. Self Evaporating Technology - During the cooling process, water is extracted from the air into the unit. Most of this water is then recycled and used to cool the unit and make it run more efficiently. Approximately 65 to 70% of water condensed is evaporated out with the exhaust air, reducing the hassle of emptying the water tank constantly. This unit has a built-in water tank (not removable) with a drain outlet, and a water tube. When the tank fills, the compressor stops operating and the power light will flash. This indicates that the tank should be emptied. Included with the unit is a window and a wall exhaust kit. AC must be vented via exhaust hose (included). If your room has a heat source such as direct sunlight or computer servers, the AC coverage area may be reduced.

Amazon.com Product Description
Ideal for average-size rooms up to 400 square feet, this portable air conditioner features a 12,000-BTU cooling capacity. During the cooling process, its self evaporating technology extracts water from the air that passes through the unit. Most of this water then works to help cool the machine for more efficient operation. Approximately 65 to 70 percent of water condensed evaporates out with the exhaust air, reducing the hassle of constantly having to empty the water tank. For the small amount of remaining water, the unit provides a built-in water tank with a drain outlet and a water tube. When the tank fills, the compressor stops operating and the power light will flash to indicate that the tank should be emptied.

The air conditioner also comes equipped with full thermostat control, two fan speeds for fast or normal cooling, and manual controls, which are recommended for use in server rooms; in case of a power failure, the unit will automatically restart when power resumes. Choose between continuous operation or the timer, which can be preset up to eight hours. Other highlights include a 62- to 90-degree F thermostat, moisture removal of 65 pints per day, a washable air filter, and an activated carbon filter, as well as adjustable louvers to control air flow, built-in casters for convenient mobility, and an extendable exhaust hose (up to 5 feet). A window and wall exhaust kit comes included, and the air conditioner must be vented via the included exhaust hose. Please note, if the room has a heat source such as direct sunlight or computer servers, the coverage area may be reduced. Weighing 65 pounds, the air conditioner measures 17 by 16 by 30 inches and carries a one-year warranty on parts and labor and a five-year warranty on the compressor.

Only for apt dwellers4
If i could've gotten a window unit i would have it. But i can't, so i settled for this. It does the job. The few problems though is with the exhaust pipe. Its too small, and easily slips off the back of the unit. Also the Adjustable bar doesn't fit thru the window. Probably the apt fault though since this a Pre Depression building.
Instruction booklet is lacking, but it tells you what you need to know.
Other than that its worth the cost.

Good Portable AC Value5
For slightly larger areas of about 250 square feet, this Amcor unit seemed to do the trick for us. I know a few users posting at Amazon.com gave this AC a poor overall rating, but it worked fine for our purposes. We were using it to spot cool our bedroom in our condo. The venting was easy to figure out and it did a nice job of keeping us comfortable in this heat wave. Although it's not as pretty as some of the other portable air conditioners out there, we were mostly concerned with its cooling ability. The full thermostat control and air filters and castors were nice.

Good value for the money - shop around Amazon for it because you'll get a pretty decent deal by comparison shopping.

WORTHLESS!1
After 12 hours of operation I found this unit to be the costliest
mistake since my divorce 13 years ago. It is currently 88 deg F outside;
the best this unit will do is drop the inside temp to 85 deg F ... in a
room with all windows closed and approxiamtely 260 sq ft. area. The
exhaust hose radiates almost as much heat as the cold air it discharges
into the room. In other words it appears to be fighting itself. I
replaced a small (5,000BTU) window unit which would easily bring the
indoor temp down 20 deg below the outside ambient. Hard to believe this
(supposedly) 12,000BTU gadget works full time for a 3 deg differential.
I find it disgusting that anyone could ask $400.00 for such a worthless
item.
