Gal is the owner of a very beautiful high-pitched voice. I love her, specially when she sings songs by her big fellow Caetano, such as: the highly inspired "Luz do Sol", the beautifully melancholic "London, London", the shamelessly romantic "Não Identificado", the delightfully bittersweet "Meu Bem, Meu Mal" and the incredibly touching "Força Estranha".

She's taken by some people as crazy, but she's only a very talented songwriter, whose personal convictions belongs only to herself. She caught pop-rock and blended it very well with MPB as you can comprove by hearing fantastic compositions like "Baila Comigo", "Agora Só Falta Você", "Chega Mais" and "Ovelha Negra". Rita recorded a live album with Gil in the late 70's.

Never has it existed a singer as Elis. She simply felt the music and gave it life. It's impossible not to feel moved by hearing her amazing and passionate performances in songs like "Arrastão", "Romaria", "Como Nossos Pais" and "Cartomante". Unforgettable indeed. Elis recorded many songs composed by Milton throughout her career.

Bethânia is a passionate singer 'cos her repertoire is basically formed by beautiful love songs, such as: "Explode Coração", "Tatuagem" and "Negue". But she has also some deeper and more reflexive moments in her repertoire like "Tocando Em Frente" and "Brincar de Viver". Bethânia recorded many songs composed by Chico throughout her career.

Djavan is a great songwriter and he conquers crowds with his songs, as this live compilation (double CD) shows. Practically all his most known ones were performed here, including "Samurai", "Álibi", "Oceano", "Esquinas", "Pétala" and "Lilás". As you can see, he tends to be economical on entitling his ones.

Have you ever heard of "frevo"? It's a thrilling rhythm here in Brazil and Alceu is a great artist of this musical style. Besides he has often added 'rock' elements to his sound. He has a strong accent from a Brazilian State called Pernambuco that I personally enjoy a lot. This compilation brings hits like "Anunciação", "Solidão", "Coração Bobo", "Morena Tropicana" and "Como Dois Animais".

Just like Zé Ramalho, Raul Seixas was a kind of mystical person and this can be easily identified in many of his songs, including his most popular one among Brazilian people: "Gita". But he had also songs with a peculiar sense of humour like "A Maçã" and other ones where he clearly talked about his strong convictions like "Metamorfose Ambulante".

Jorge is a singer with a lot of swing. Songs like "Xica da Silva" and "Taj Mahal" are able to make any person gives in to his talent.

Paulinho is a person with an immense sensibility to make beautiful and deep "samba" songs such as "Coração Leviano", "Pecado Capital", which was the main theme for a very famous brazilian soap opera, and my fave one "Sinal Fechado".

I think Gonzaguinha was a guy who really cared about brazilian people and their fights to survive in a country so full of social problems like mine. But his message was often very hopeful and optmistic about life and the future like in "E Vamos A Luta" lyrics. On the other hand, some of his romantic compositions tended to be quite melancholic like "Grito de Alerta".

Angela owns a sexy and irresistible voice and she's a very talended songwriter. "Simples Carinho" and "Amor, Meu Grande Amor" are her greatest songs at my opinion.

Beto Guedes own many touching ones and on this album his most popular ones appear in new good versions. "Lumiar" and "Sol de Primavera" are both songs with a kind of bucolic atmosphere and they surely are among his most popular ones.

Zizi is a brilliant singer, but she never could reach a big popularity, except for one record called Per Amore, which is sung in Italian language. Anyway, she has gotten many hits like "Asa Morena", "Meu Amigo, Meu Herói" and "Caminhos de Sol".

Guilherme Arantes is an underrated composer. I enjoy him too much and he has many terrific hits here in Brazil. I like specially "Coisas do Brasil", "Amanhã", "Êxtase", "Um Dia Um Adeus", "Planeta Água" and "O Meu Mundo E Nada Mais".

Marina is a very classy composer and performer. She's a kind of Lulu's "feminine version" 'cos she also can make "Pop Music" with high-quality. You shouldn't miss songs like "Charme do Mundo", "Fullgás", "Veneno" and "Virgem.

Cazuza was a too lively guy whose life was so intense and controversial as some of his lyrics. He didn't care about being "the good boy", but he surely wasn't "a bad guy". He was just crazily human like most of us, I think. All his musical sensibility is very well expressed in songs like "Todo Amor Que Houver Nessa Vida" and "Codinome Beija-Flor".

I regard Zelia as another brilliant singer with deep voice. Plus she's an excellent lyricist. On this compilation you can find almost all her hits, including her wonderful version to "Cathedral Song" by Tanita Tikaram with lyrics properly adapted to Portuguese and the delightfully catchy "Enquanto Durmo".

Lenine is a critically acclaimed brazilian artist who could get a bigger public recognition in 1999 after releasing a song called "Paciência", which is probably the most easy listening one that he ever recorded. His sound tends to blend funk/soul/rap with brazilian popular music and this can be heard in songs like "Jack Soul Brasileiro" and "Hoje Eu Quero Sair Só".

Miss Calcanhoto is another brazilian female songwriter with a huge sensibility to write poetic lyrics. I love "Esquadros", "Inverno", "Vambora" and mainly "Mais Feliz".

Daniela is one of the most popular singers (and the only one that interests me) of a brazilian musical style called "Axé" and her performance in this live cd is stunning. Some of her most popular hits cannot be found here, even so it's well worth buying. I love specially 3 calmer ones from her repertoire present in this one, which are: "À Primeira Vista", "Só Pra Te Mostrar" and "Mutante".
