Review
Cline and Fay know teenagers well, and the book is engaging. The parenting pearls in the last third of the book are worth the price of purchase. Read it carefully; the book is short on "bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord" and long on "do not exasperate your children." -- Daniel R. Vander Ark, Christian Home & School Magazine, March/April 1993

From the Back Cover

"The real world doesn't operate on punishment. It operates on consequences. Teens must never be allowed to think that the consequences of their poor decision will be "Mom and Dad will get angry." They should be thinking of the natural consequence of their actions. Whenever we lay something on a teenager that doesn't happen in the real world, it's a punishment and not a consequence." from Chapter 8, Ready, Set - Off into the Real World " Parenting Teens with Love and Logic helps us stay connected to our children while we watch them grow strong and independent. It is a gift to all of us who want to enjoy the incredible process of watching our children become respectful, responsible, and resilient adults." --Bob Sornson, Ph.D., Author of Creating Classrooms Where Teachers Love to Teach and Students Love to Learn , coauthor of Meeting the Challenge and founder of the Early Learning Foundation " Parenting Teens with Love and Logic empowers parents by providing them with the tools and skills to handle each mistake with respect and embrace it as a learning opportunity. This respectful attitude assists teenagers in becoming responsible adults while maintaining a positive healthy parent/teen relationship." --Gloria Sherman, M.A., LPC, Counselor Zemmer Jr. High, Lapeer, Michigan " Parenting Teens with Love and Logic provides parents with a wide variety of the necessary skills to set behavioral limits, encourage decision-making, and teach their teenagers the essential social skills to function in the adult world." --Paul Gasser MS/LMFT, Marriage and Family Therapist-Mayo/Franciscan Health Instructor-University of Wisconsin-Platteville

A breakthrough book for this harried mom5
My son turned 13. He became a different person. I became a different parent. I didn't understand what was happening, and then we reached a crisis point. This book caused me to completely reposition my parenting philosophy. It's allowed me to focus more on the love of my child, than on the fear of how he will "turn out." The idea of being a "consultative parent" is an absolute breakthrough for me, and one that is working beautifully after only one week of practicing it. I am thrilled with the results and the possibilities. The authors are to be applauded with a standing ovation.

This book has changed my thinking and my life...5
I couldn't put this book down for days, it had so much information that I needed to help change my thinking. Right away I used the ideas and boy did things change around the house. I am a single parent and just didn't know how to get around the constant problems of reasoning with a strong willed child. I recommend this book to all parents even if you think you are doing all the right things. You will find great help and your life will be easier.

The best book for parents raising teens5
Whether you have troubled teens, average teens, or great teens, this book provides a plethora of answers for parents with questions about being the best parent they can be. The love and logic program teaches parents how to love their child by taking care of themselves and by allowing their teen to suffer real world consequences. The book is half instruction and half ideas and suggestions for resolving common teen problems such as parties, friends, drugs, sex, backtalking, etc. I'm going to make it part of my permanent library.
