Amazon.com Product Description
Built to take a beating, the Powertec P-PR power rack is the ultimate free weight training system. The power rack offers a sturdy cage for safely performing all of the power barbell exercises, such as squats, rows, dead lifts, and all the pressing movements, with adjustable spotter bars for extra security. The built-in chin-up and dip bars, meanwhile, let you add pull-ups, chin-ups, tricep dips, and a host of other exercises to your workout routine. And even though the P-PR is sold as a standalone unit, it's also compatible with Powertec's high/low lat tower pulley system for exercising the back, shoulders, and more. The P-PR rack measures 44 by 82 by 60 inches (W x H x D), supports up to 1,000 pounds (rack section) and 400 pounds body weight (chin-up and dip bars), and carries the following warranties: lifetime on the frame, two years on component parts (such as bearings and spring pins), and one year on pads and grips. All plates are sold separately.
Customer Reviews
Great rack
I love this thing. It's solid, well-made, and even pretty cool looking. I like doing sets to failure, especially on bench press, and this rack inspires complete confidence despite the fact that I don't have a spotter. It's probably the best investment I've ever made in fitness equipment. As soon as I've got some spare cash I'll be adding the lat tower attachment.
Happy so far
I have only used this for about four workouts but I like it so far. I upgraded from a "body by jake olympic bench rack" because I wanted to lift heavier without the danger of dropping the weight on myself. Easy to assemble. I use it for squats, straight leg deadlifts, standing overhead press, pullups - if I lift my legs up, dips, bench press. Only negative is that the paint scratches easily. But then again I didn't buy it to look at. *** Update: After 3 months of use 3 times a week I am still pleased with this purchase.
Essential Home Gym Equipment
Buy this if you work out at home--it is essential. A utility bench is also essential (but the Powertec bench is overpriced--look at your local sporting goods store or on craigslist for a bench).
I purchased this in 10/2008 for $499 (w/ free shipping). It arrived within a week.
I love it. The rack is totally solid, and was easy to assemble. I was sold on this rack because of the dip bars and pull-up bars--and they are better than I imagined. The dip bars are angled and can be attached in either direction (pointing in or out) so you can do wide dips or triceps dips regardless of your size. After working out with a makeshift home gym for over a year (sawhorses, doing dips on ladders) this rack has changed everything--I am already lifting much heavier weight just knowing that the rack is there to catch if I fail.
Seriously--if you work out at home, buy this. It will change your life and save you from injury.
