Some may consider this book out of date, but I believe that it it still relevant to today's world of poker at the lower to medium stakes. Pros from the early days of professional poker offer their advice for cash games.

David Sklansky gives you the lowdown on just about everything aspect of poker in what is considered by many to be his best book. He gives you new insight and ways of looking at things on even the most basic of topics. In this book is included his fundamental theorem of poker.

This is basically a modernized, expanded, and deeper version of Sklansky's Hold 'Em Poker.

In this book, Feeney discusses the mental game of poker. He insists that no amount of knowledge of game theory will help you if you cannot understand the reasons behind the actions of your opponents, or even your own. It is a book of mental analysis and self-examination.

Don't let the mentioned author of this book fool you. This is more than just Negreanu (although that would be enough). This book is 672 pages, which I think is the longest, most comprehensive on this entire list. That is why it is also the most expensive. Other contributers include Erick Lindgren, Paul Wasicka, Todd Brunson, and Evelyn Ng. It contains a lot of essays on small ball strategy.

Any pro will tell you that being a professional player takes more than skills. It also takes intelligence. The intelligence to handle downswings, bad beats, bankroll management, and initial instincts. Hilger addresses these often unmentioned concepts in this book.
