Having Fun (Without the TV)5
I'm sometimes appalled at all the time Americans spend with clicker in hand. I'm as guilty as anyone of vegging out in front of the tube. Television at times becomes a blur of voices, faces, commercials, news and other bits and pieces. If asked to name one "quality" show watched in the past week, would anything come to mind?
It's time to give the TV a rest. There is so much I could do; pursue a hobby, writes a letter or e-mail, take a walk, bake something, spend time with the family, read a book. I vow to quit slouching down on that sofa staring at the television with glazed eyes just like all the other couch potatoes across America.
If I just cut my television time in half, it would free up plenty of time for those activities. Think how amazed my old college friends would be to get a letter from me. Imagine my cholesterol level dropping from all the exercise I would get. Picture my sewing machine humming away as I finish the quilting project hidden away for so long. Think of my brain and emotions refreshed by reading a worthwhile book.
