A must read book for every generation 5
Derek Prince begins with a thesis on Christians being the salt of the earth and concludes with the responsibilty of Christians to minister as priests and reign as kings. We minister as priests through all forms of prayer. We reign as kings as we are seated at His right hand.

The life of Derek Prince and his testimony of the effectiveness of prayer and fasting is a must read for all nations wishing to shape history as a citizen of heaven working for the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

Outstanding - I followed Derek's recommendations, incredible results5
This book is an excellent quick read.
Derek keeps it simple and share lots of personal experiences that verify scriptural pricipals.
If you want to experience life changes then get and read this book. I have made it part of my personal lifestyle.

Interesting subject, this book could have better treated objections or criticisms of his position2
The audience of this book is Christian mystic/religious, and likely a limited sect within Christianity. It is popular among IHOP followers (24/7 prayer and fasting!!); For anyone else, it is limited to a book that will give you a glimpse into the minds of Christians who want to "change the world" and "impact the culture" for Christ.

The author argues that Christians can (and have in the past) directly influence the course of history, through prayer and fasting. This is an interesting read, with some unique insights into different historical events. While the author has a cool idea, with personal experiences to inform his conclusions; his overall argument is weak. It is not a very convincing thesis unless you were reading the book with the intention of agreeing with him in the first place. He essentially (a) cites scriptures where he argues that this happened in the bible, and then (b) presents a set of events from recent history in which the prayers and fasting of the church changed history.

(a) His hermeneutic for interpreting scripture left me wondering if the scriptures that he uses to advance his position are actually talking about what he is talking about. A skeptic would say that they really aren't, or if they are it might be because his rhetoric is creative (He learned from the best, the apostle Paul).

(b) The positions offer an interpretation of historical events that is one you wouldn't read about in a text book and would be laughed at by most scholars, but it seems to be favorable for advancing his position. Essentially, him and a bunch of people fasted and prayed for Kenya during its unrest in the 80's and 90's. God responded to that much like he did in the Bible, and this is the reason Kenya has been somewhat blessed recently (in comparison to its neighboring African Countries). And we also see the effects of this Kenyan revival spreading: Africa is an epicenter for Christianity in the 21st Century.

Overall, I say that the book is an interesting read. As a christian, I pray and fast ... and see the fruits of it, but the literary quality and overall persuasiveness on behalf of the author is lacking. A lot of time Christians can be convinced that something is 'biblical' simply because a couple of citations from the bible are appended to the idea. One might wonder if this is a case of that.
