Not what I'd hoped for3
I received an electric skillet for Christmas and thought this book could help me out in using it....especially for camping recipe ideas and things children might eat - like cooking biscuits and cakes, etc. While it has tons of recipes, they are more "gourmetish" than I thought they would be. I wish I had borrowed this book and not purchased it. There are only 3 recipes that I marked that I might actually use.

This is a typical cookbook without any inspiration. It is a collection of various recipes that DO NOT AT ALL address the issue of using an electric skillet well.

The recipes vary in providing details. Many do not have specific temperatures for cooking at all...and this is critical in an electric skillet. There is an apologia in the book about not using anything specific since you get to know your skillet over time. Not very reassuring.

I have seen many of these recipes on the web for free. What makes these specific to the electric skillet is very unclear. This is the critical problem with the book. A substantial amount of information disconnected from the topic is provided.

The book is terribly disorganized. Clarified butter is introduced very strangely...it is not in the index, nor in the 'secrets for success' section. This is quite true of a number of techniques. The book is a low-level general cookbook of dubious originality. Pedestrian.

The cooking temp. chart of one page is laughable.

Really a poor attempt.

I have no clue as to how Wendy rose to any reputation at all.

Pedestrian.

Someone can do much better.

Great resource for your electric skillet5
This is an excellent collection of recipes for the electric skillet. Whether it is traditional fried chicken or stuffed pork chops or something a little more exotic (but just as easy to prepare) like Steak Diane or Veal Scaloppini if it can be made in an electric skillet you will probably find it here. Well written, easy to understand directions make it pretty much impossible to mess up a recipe. Whether it is a main dish, side dish, or dessert there are selections in here for every need. The Sensational Skillet Cookbook is highly recommended and sure to produce delicious results in your kitchen.
