Starting a business with eBay? Start with this book! 4
Hillary DePiano's The Trading Assistant's Assistant is an eye-opener. I have heard of trading assistants, but did not fully understand what the job entailed. It makes sense that to keep selling on eBay there is only so much of your own clutter you can get rid of before you actually run out of things of your own to sell. This is where the author, Hilary DePiano shares her own experiences as a trading assistant and a PowerSeller. Someone who sells items for other people in many different ways for example can pass any revenue onto the owner for an agreed rate of commission.

We learn there arecertain conditions to consider in the user agreement, which apply to the rules of eBay. How to qualify as a trading assistant and what the benefits are once a link is added to your profile and how you are listed in the trading assistant directory. DePiano lists the pros and cons and explains how to change from the casual seller to one with professional standards. Then there is branding to think about, and who actually hires a trading assistant, gaining regular clients, who your ideal clients would be, how to reach potential customers and finally how a trading assistant actually makes money, whether that is actually selling on commission, charging fees, or using deposits to secure clients. If you don't understand who is accountable for which costs, shipping, eBay fees, reports, spreadsheets then this books explains all. The author also goes into how to make your own service stand out from the rest using client realism , and showing you the value of research, keywords, proper terms, conditions and policies.

Starting up as a business and the taxes involved is never easy, but Hillary DePiano is very helpful in these areas, and also explains about the technical side of things. The eBay accounting software, the benefits of pairing of Quickbooks and eBay are also mentioned. As are the benefits of Skype where you can make calls from your computer free to other people on Skype and cheap to phones and mobiles around the world. This removes the threat of supplying strangers with your own home phone number, a blessing for your privacy and safety - especially for women who live on their own. We take a lot of precautions to protect our computers and our identity when working online, real life should be no different at all. I enjoyed reading this book, and with all this new knowledge am tempted to start my own business, as will many other readers.

Helpful How-To Guide 4
Hillary DePiano's short How-To guide is very informative to anyone looking to earn a little extra income by selling items on EBAY. As an EBAY seller myself, I had no idea there was a program such as the Trading Assistant. That is where an established EBAY seller, makes an agreement with a client to sell, ship and do most of the leg work in return for a profit.

Anyone over the age of 18 looking to earn a little extra spending money is eligible for the Trading Assistant program. Although a few requirements must be met. The TA must have a feedback rating of 100 with over a 97% positive feedback. An average of 4 items per month must be sold, based on a 3 month period. If you would rather set up a different EBAY account for just TA purposes, you must build up to the requirements before you're considered a full TA.

Included are key chapters such as, Pro's and Cons of being a Trading Assistant, Getting Started, Terms, Conditions, and Policies, and Registering as a Business for IRS Tax purposes. The IRS now states that you must report any income earned from selling items on EBAY. There are also notes from the author about her own experiences that helped her to be a better Trading Assistant.

The Trading Assistant's Assistant is a must have for anyone one selling on EBAY. With this inexpensive little guide you can learn how to meet clients, and stabilize a new way to get a little more money to put in the cookie jar. Instead of the income from selling your own items why not increase the profits by selling items for other trustworthy clients?

Hillary DePiano has the right idea, her How-To guide is easy to follow and right down to business. There are no difficult directions, so anyone just learning how to operate and sell on EBAY can pick this up and get started as a Trading Assistant with no problems. I did learn a few new things from Ms. DePiano and now I'm going to pass this on to my husband so maybe we can become Trading Assistants and build that nest egg for an Ireland trip. 4 Hearts

A simple, short, easy to read primer on becoming an eBay trading assistant. I've read all the books on this topic and this one is by far the most helpful in it's brevity. Well explained, providing valuable information. No trading assistant should be without it.
