Amazon.com Product Description
Called the BrewStation because there is no "pot" involved, this 10-cup countertop unit from Proctor Silex keeps drip-brewed coffee hot and fresh so the last cup tastes as great as the first. And because there's no carafe, there's no pouring, spilling, or hassle. The coffeemaker's gentle, self-regulating heater technology adjusts depending on the amount of coffee in the coffee tank, so coffee is kept hot without scorching the flavor. Its enclosed brewing system only dispenses coffee when the trigger is depressed with a mug--otherwise, the coffee stays inside. Mid-brew dispensing makes the appliance handy for anybody in a hurry, and a translucent indicator shows the liquid level at a glance. Other useful features include an "on/off" indicator light, a drip tray, a small footprint, and an easy-to-clean design. The BrewStation measures 11-1/2 by 9-1/4 by 14-1/2 inches and carries a 180-day warranty.

Good stuff
What I love about this brewstation is that everything that could get dirty and over time, unsightly, is readily washable. With a coffee maker the hot plate usually wears away, and the coffee stains, no matter how diligent you are, don't come clean. Only a few parts of a coffeemaker can be cleaned thoroughly. However, with the brewstation the coffee tank lifts off and can be washed at will, as can the filter and the drip tray. Cosmetically speaking this is really great. My husband is having a hard time getting used to this because he misses the carafe. He also finds it big. Well, our old coffeemaker was for 5 cups and this is for 10, so of course it's bigger. I on the other hand love this precisely because there IS no carafe. No breaking, no replacing, no cleaning. The size is fine and the machine is compact. As to the coffee it makes: We haven't yet made a perfect cup of coffee, which isn't the machine's fault, but ours. We bought a grinder along with the brewstation and so we're using two new products at the same time. I can tell you that the coffee is quickly made, stays hot and not bitter. With a couple of more attempts I think we'll master a really, really good cup of coffee. I do have one quibble with this machine. I think the water level indicator should be on the water reservoir and not in the front. However, this is just my preference and why it got 4 stars and not 5. Overall, a really terrific product.
UPDATE 3/17/06 Well, my husband has gotten over the "I miss the carafe, and this is too big" situation. I adore this coffeemaker
and we have made and continue to make truly excellent coffee. We like coffee strong without being bitter and I have found that for 10 cups I use 10-11 full scoops of coffee. All the visible parts are pristine. The basket is clean, although the inside reservoir is stained. It's time for a cleaning. All in all we're both very happy with this and certainly recommend it highly.
It makes coffee
It makes coffee just fine and I can't complain about that. The white color was a mistake as it is very hard to keep clean. The big problem I have with this model is that it does not shut itself off after a designated time period. I'd pay the extra money and get the next model up that has a timer on it... and in a different color!
Way under average coffeemaker !
I bought this coffeemaker after the carafe from my old coffeemaker broke believing that this will prevent future accidents.
This coffeemaker does make coffee but it has several disadvantages. First thing is that after only a couple of usage the stains inside out is impossible to get cleaned. The second and the most annoying problem is that you can't go cup wise with this machine. In other words, when it shows in the capacity window that it has 2 cups left from that point on it is impossible to get a clean cup of coffee without dripping from the machine itself on the cabinet and floor and everywhere. It is a disaster. Also, What I don't like about it is that you always have to do guesswork about how much water you already added to machine since the reservoir of it does not have the measurement window. Overall, I don't like this machine and am looking forward to go back to a good carafe based coffeemaker soon.
