Product Description

Equation Nineteen is a suspense thriller set in the prestigious medical community of Boston. Its two main characters are Pete Peterossi, a detective on the Boston Police Department, and his father, Doctor Gerry Peterossi, a world-renowned research expert in the field of Alzheimer’s disease. Pete is called to a suburban Boston location to investigate a bizarre murder scene in which a mysterious substance appears to have transformed the behavior of many of the party’s attendees. Federal authorities are called in as well and they quickly try to dismiss Pete from any further involvement. Pete continues his investigation using back channels and comes to the realization that the mysterious substance may be the byproduct of his father's Alzheimer’s research team. Meanwhile, Gerry knows that his team is on the verge of a medical breakthrough and now must wonder if some of the research has been used for unintended consequences. His life becomes further complicated when he is asked to work on a secret government research project that he is told is related to his Alzheimer’s work. Both father and son must keep their investigative efforts confidential but both also have a need to divulge their secrets to each other. Over time, it becomes apparent to them that they are working on reverse sides of the same issue and that both of their lives are in jeopardy.

A word from the Author5
I suppose it is a bit unusual for the author to write a review of his own book but I did want to highlight that, from the proceeds of each sale, I will be donating $1 to the national Alzheimer's Association and $1 to the Jimmy Fund cancer research center in Boston. Equation Nineteen is a story about Alzheimer's research that is used for unintended - and deadly - purposes. It is also the story of a physician father and his detective son who share a passion for baseball and the Boston Red Sox. They relate to each other through their shared experiences as former players. Three scenes take place at Fenway Park, the home of the Red Sox. One quick revelation - the book The Science of Hitting by Ted Williams also plays a role in the story. So I hope you will enjoy the book and know that your purchase will result in a direct benefit to two notable charities. My thanks in advance.

Excellent surprise5
This was a most enjoyable book. Not only was it was a page turning medical mystery, but also showed a lot of insight into the human character. One example is the gay character who is dealt with realistically. There are many unique observations of everyday life, and New England natives will recognize the local flavor. Also anyone who played Little League baseball will be amused with the childhood references.

beach reader4
I enjoyed this book. It's a nice "summer read" on the beach. The story is about the relationship between a loving father and his adult son. Both of whom are married to their jobs. The father, a research scientist, is on the verge of discovering a cure for Alzhiemers disease. He is un- aware that others are interested in his discoveries and their intent for the end product could kill millions. The "others" may surprise and scare you. His son is a Boston cop who is draw into a horrific sight when he responds, as a favor, to a multiple murder scene with some odd things going on-utensils sticking out from the dead's body parts. At the time he is not aware that this terrible scene might have something to do with his Dad lifes work. That's the jist of the sorry and it goes from there. Don't want to spoil anything so my lips are sealed. I had fun reading it and have already passed it along to 2 friends.
