Surprisingly perfect.
I did not expect a tea kettle this adorable (and it is adorable) to actually be the best kettle I've had. What's so great about it?
1. Solid construction, I've dropped it ( empty thankfully ) and it has no dents or scratches.
2. Easy to clean, no unreachable nooks.
3. Balanced, empty or full, it doesn't tip over as some previous kettles of mine did.
4. The handle stays nearly cool to the touch, I've gotten in the bad habit of picking it up without a potholder.
5. The lid fits tightly, there is no spill even when full to the brim.
6. The harmonic whistle is pleasant and plenty loud.
7. The inside material may be teflon (I don't know, it's just smooth and not stainless steel) so it stays really clean.
8. It has a wide bottom so it heats quickly.
9. The spout is easy to open, like a little handle, I've never burned myself and I burn myself all the time.
10. The water stays warmer inside if you leave it even though the kettle itself is not that hot to the touch.

All in all, exactly what I wanted.

Cutest tea kettle ever! Love the LOUD whistle
I got this tea kettle as a Christmas present and I LOVE IT. It's absolutely adorable; I leave in on top of my stove all the time because it just makes me smile when I see it. I drink a lot of green tea, and also often boil water for instant soups, and this tea kettle is just perfect. It's very easy to pour the hot water and it's just so easy to use in general. I LOVE the loud whistle. It's impossible to ignore, which is exactly what I need, I work from home as a programmer and I become so absorbed in my work that I ignore the phone, the doorbell, the washer and dryer signals, but not the tea kettle! Someone said in another review that you need a towel to open the spout, but I have the Giraffe kettle and I don't have that problem, I can open the spout with my hand immediately after I hear the whistle and it's not hot. Same with the handle, it doesn't get hot, I never use a potholder to pick it up. I do use medium heat on my stove as suggested in the instructions, maybe if you use high heat then the handle and spout will get hot. And even at medium heat this tea kettle boils water really, really fast!
