About the Author

Debra Lynne Katz is author of You Are Psychic: The Art of Clairvoyant Reading & Healing, and Extraordinary Psychic: Proven Techniques To Master Your Psychic Abilities.  As a talented clairvoyant/energy healer, she has assisted thousands of people. 

She is the founder/director of The International School of Clairvoyance which offers psychic boot camp trainings, ongoing classes and distance personalized training programs to prospective psychics around the globe. 

Debra holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work, a B.A. in psychology and is a graduate of the Zaki Gordon Institute for Independent Filmmaking.  She is a former Federal Probation Officer and was host of Sedona, Arizona’s popular television show, “The Psychic Explorer.”  She is also a director/screenwriter and an active member of ISEE—the Institute for Enlightening Entertainment.

chapter 1 Introduction One night as I was doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, I heard a group of excited teenagers discussing the blockbuster film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and the series of books by J. K. Rowling that have made her the second wealthiest woman in England. They were saying how cool it would be to attend the fictional Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Harry Potter discovers that he has extraordinary abilities that he never imagined existed but that occasionally exhibited themselves in startling and detrimental ways until he was taught to control these talents. I smiled to myself as I thought about the esoteric school of clairvoyance that I attended, and the one I later established in Sedona, where every day, every minute, was a new adventure, filled with discovery, drama, mystery, and challenges unheard of by most living beings. It still amazes and saddens me that I lived twenty-seven years of my life without the slightest inkling that I possessed clairvoyant abilities, and that there were schools that could teach me things that were not supposed to even be possible. It's my dream that someday there will be no need for clairvoyant training schools because clairvoyant reading will be understood, encouraged, and taught by parents as well as teachers throughout our educational institutions. Unfortunately, we are not there yet. I hope this book will provide the initial wake-up call for the slumbering adults in the United States who are still oblivious to their own clairvoyant abilities and talents and therefore unaware of their own true potential and that of their children. If I could send everyone to a clairvoyant training school, I would, but that is neither feasible nor really necessary. About the Author and Creation of this Book I began my clairvoyant training in 1994 at the Berkeley Psychic Institute in Berkeley, California, where I underwent an intensive thirteenmonth clairvoyant training program. Within one week of my training, which required us to attend class three hours a week and perform readings two to three times a week, I was accessing my clairvoyance for the first time in my twenty-seven years of existence in this lifetime. I was actually performing accurate and helpful readings, which was not uncommon for beginning students. Upon graduation, I went on to take classes and work with beginning clairvoyant students at the Aesclepion Healing Center in Marin County, California. The Berkeley Psychic Institute was founded by a brilliant psychic healer and spiritual teacher named Lewis Bostwick. Lewis recognized that people were suffering from pain and distress as a result of their lack of awareness of themselves as Spirit. He traveled throughout the world studying and practicing a variety of religions and disciplines, such as Catholicism, Scientology, the Rosicrucian Order, and Philippine faith healing, all of which strongly influenced the development of his clairvoyant reading and healing techniques. He designed and perfected specific techniques that have served the thousands of students who practiced them, as well as the hundreds of thousands of people who have received psychic readings from these students. Lewis Bostwick "fathered" generations of clairvoyant teachers, many of whom went on to establish their own clairvoyant and healing institutes and training programs. I began my clairvoyant training about two months after Lewis' death, and many of the techniques in this book were taught to me by his talented students. Robert Skillman, David Pierce (founder of Intuitive Way, a psychic training school), John Fulton (founder of the Aesclepion Healing Center), and Chris Murphy were a few of my most influential teachers. Look, Ma...no cards!
I've been doing professional readings for clients both in person and over my personal home phone line since the late 1980's, usually using some type of intuitive tool like Tarot cards, playing cards, pendulums, taseomancy, etc. I would often get flashes of clairvoyance that would supplement whatever tool I was using, which to me was an extra "treat".

Then I came across books written by students from the late Lewis Bostwick that encouraged learning and giving clairvoyant readings by using a symbol (often a rose) to represent the person you were reading. The Bostwick methods also encouraged taking care of your own energy and aura using the symbols of roses, grounding cords and other visualized items.

This system freed me from having to always rely on physical tools by using the inner tools of the mind. Instead of just looking forward to the occasional accurate clairvoyant "flash" the books written by Bostwick's students teach readers how to harness one's clairvoyance. On a practical level, I could give quick and easy clairvoyant readings for people when hired for parties by using Bostwick's Berkeley Institute's methods. It's quick, easy and you don't need a table to put stuff on.

However, I was not satisfied completely with this system, perhaps either due to my own limitations, or the lack of information in the books I read to answer some questions, or a combination of both. So, I went back to using cards, runes and other physical tools to answer other questions for my clients if I felt the rose symbolism wouldn't help.

That all changed with Debra Katz' book.

Ms. Katz also comes from the Lewis Bostwick method & so many of the visualizations were quite familiar to me. But her book helped "stretch" my learning and took me further by teaching me how to address other ways of reading people by still using the rose-symbol methods. Even before finishing the whole book, I gave a darn good clairvoyant reading to a client that lasted an hour -- all done with my eyes closed and without having to rely on physical tools.

Ms. Katz includes other chapters that discuss topics on setting up oneself as a professional psychic, charging clients, learning how to read for couples (and when NOT to), and various healing techniques that also includes sending healings to cancer patients -- her method on this seems much more streamlined and efficient than what I was trying to do with cancer patients in my 20's.

There is nothing wrong with using physical tools in one's psychic work -- I sometimes still enjoy taking them out and some clients enjoy seeing cards or crystal balls on the table. But if you want to start reading strictly through clairvoyance, this book is great for beginners and advanced readers alike. Out of the many good books written by Bostwick's students, in my opinion this one is not only the best but goes the furthest.

comprehensive guide for developing one's abilities
I have read a whole bunch of different books for developing psychic ability and while some were very good, this is the best I have encountered so far. I was so impressed with the book I saught the author out for a reading. I received a a phone reading a few days ago, and her information was accurate and VERY helpful for me, which gives me even more faith in following through with the work outlined in the book.

I really appreciate how she includes exercises for many practical purposes, such as grounding and clearing out negative energy. I especially like the exercise for Calling Back Your Energy. Even though she is a professional psychic, she actually instructs the readers in detail how they can develop their own abilities and read for others. Now, that's generous!

Developing Your Own Clairvoyance

The book is well written with explicit and simple directions and practices for anyone to use to discover these hidden talents of seeing beyond the physical scope. Katz explains that she wanted to make available to everyone the techniques by which she was trained to develop her own psychic ability, which was only weakly discernable in the beginning. Katz firmly believes that everyone has these psychic receptors which only need fine tuning and practice while we learn to trust what we "see." A fascinating book for anyone interested in ESP.
