Difficult toy
I enjoy a challenge, but this toy is really difficult to solve. Sudoku puzzles and Rubik's Cubes are fun, but combining them makes it nearly impossible to solve. I think it would help if each side were also color coded, but with it being entirely black and white, it makes it more difficult than it should be. It's also somewhat difficult to turn. It's a cute toy, especially if you like Sudoku puzzles and Rubik's cubes, but don't expect to solve this puzzle.
Sticky, but not in the right places.
I really like my "Soduku" cube. I highly recommend it for its select audience.
Negatives:
*It is not really soduku. This doesn't really bother me, as the cube puzzle is more interesting to me than the math-fad. If you're into soduku, and have never solved a normal Rubik's Cube, this is not for you. Get the normal Rubik's Cube first.
* The twisting is pretty stiff, and I have not yet found a good way of loosening it.
* It is a little weaker than a true Rubik's Cube, so you should be careful about popping the pieces off the core. That can be fixed, but keep it in mind.
* The number-5 center stickers cover a hole where the screws to the core go, and that hole makes the stickers slip off way too easily. I had serious trouble solving the puzzle the first time, because my 5-stickers weren't properly oriented. This is easily fixed with a little extra glue.
Positives:
* A great version of the Rubik's Cube, where piece orientation is introduced for more complexity. Veteran cube solvers should enjoy the slow-down because of this.
The above single positive outweighs all the other negatives, so if you have solved the standard Rubik's Cube, or know someone who has, this is a wonderful product.
SOB broke when I touched it!
I hate to bring bad news (I usually only write good stuff), but this product is SO BAD that I have to give you a warning.
I bought this at the same time I bought my Rubik's Cube (about a month ago). I've used the Rubik's Cube so many times my
forearms hurt, but I've only used this 'toy' once. Not even once actually. In fact, the first time I moved the top layer
it broke a corner piece and it went flying.
The FIRST twist!!! Are you kidding me!?!?
I honestly cannot rate this toy for its educational or fun value cuz I haven't used it (it's broke). What I can say is:
"This toy sucks and I would not buy it!"
If they make it durable...maybe I'd try it again. After all, I love puzzles. But it isn't durable and was a waste of money.
