security at an affordable price5
Am using the Q-See PCI DVR card with an HP computer that is dedicated to home phone (VoIp), Skylink Security system and the Q-See 4 channel card for surveillance cameras. The card installed with ease and has met expectations. It allowed me to keep from buying a dedicated DVR and use a computer I had around the house (Windows XP OS, 2.7 gig single processor, 2 gig ram, 320 external USB hard drive that offers ample storage for 4 cameras). The software running the card allows for motion detection and 1, 2 or 4 split screen mode. In researching and using various security cameras and equipment, I have found that you are pretty much on your own with the DIY home surveillance set-up as ALL instructions with ALL brands I use leave a lot to be desired. That said, this product does what it is supposed to do and at an affordable price. Yes, you can use this running in the background of a computer (with reasonable processing capability) that you use daily as it does not require an over abundance of processing power to function.

Good card - Poor cameras1
Purchased this package to expand my existing 4 channel card with QSC48030 cameras. The card installed correctly but the cameras that come with this package are very poor quality. The image(s) are comparable to a cheap webcam. Get the card but spend the extra money for good cameras.

Buyer Beware:: Intel CPU and System Board w/Intel Chip Set required!!!!!4
Buyer Beware:: Intel CPU and System Board w/Intel Chip Set required!!!!!

Another option for a system board that I found which works well is the Biostar P4M900-M4 w/VIA chip set.

The system board limited to Intel products is the only major issue that I encountered with this item to date. Also take note the two additional outdoor cameras do not include night vision. The product performs well for the price point to overcome the issues I encountered but I possess a good technical background.
