Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
Full of helpful information for rabbit owners whose pets are ill, injured, or in need of extra help, Moore (A House Rabbit Primer) and Smith's (Rabbit Health in the 21st Century) guide is unique for two reasons: it is entirely devoted to the care of animals with special needs, and it includes alternative therapies and healing methods such as acupuncture, chiropractic, healing through touch, and interspecies communication. The authors have consulted with several veterinarians to ensure the information on traditional care is accurate, although they acknowledge that there may be differences of opinion among veterinarians about the best care for various ailments. Appendixes include a table of medications and appropriate doses, a list of rabbit vital signs, and lists of both traditional and alternative care resources for pet owners. The book may have a fairly limited audience as not all rabbit owners will be willing and able to devote the time and effort necessary to care for a special-needs rabbit. For owners who do, this should be required reading. Recommended where interest warrants.—Deborah Emerson, Rochester Regional Lib. Council, Fairport, NY

About the Author
Lucile C. Moore, PhD, is the author of a House Rabbit Primer and numerous articles on the history, folklore, and care of rabbits. In the course of her combined professional and personal lives she has cared for over 750 domestic rabbits of various breeds, and currently shares her home with fourteen house rabbits. She has dedicated herself to improving the lives of companion rabbits, but her love of animals is not limited to that species. Lucile has also served as a wildlife behavior consultant and fosters a neutered/spayed colony of feral cats. She lives on ten acres outside Kanab, Utah, among a host of jackrabbits and cottontails. Kathy Smith has had a passion for rabbits since childhood. After losing a beloved rabbit to cancer in 1998, Kathy wrote Rabbit Health in the 21st Century, combining her pharmaceutical industry experience with what she had learned about rabbits during Smokey's life. The medical challenges of another very special bunny, Murray, led Kathy to begin using alternative treatments in conjunction with traditional veterinary care. In her second book, King Murray's Royal Tail, Kathy tells the story of how an abandoned Easter Bunny named Murray completely changed her life. Kathy and her husband George have shared their Kansas City, MO home with rabbits since 1984.

A Very Valuable Resource for Anyone with a Special Needs Bunny
As a past owner of a special needs rabbit (my bun recently passed away), I know a lot of "wheel reinventing" happens to owners of disabled rabbits. This book covers important care topics to give your disabled or sick rabbit the best care possible early at the onset of the disability or illness.
I hope many will buy this book for themselves or other rabbit owners or vets. God Bless
A must-have for rabbit owners
This is the book that rabbit owners have been waiting for. It covers everything from the basics down to what signs to look for in case of trouble. It's extremely well done. I highly recommend it.
Great!
THis book is a must have for rabbit owners. It serves as reference for when rabbits display symptoms that you may not recognize at first and it provides solutions that can save your rabbit's life!
