"HIDDEN TREASURE"
is what this album is to me. Randy put together 10 outstanding cuts to define "Abstract Emotions." Her vocals are first class Randy, emotional without being heavy handed ("Can't Stand the Pain"), understated (the original version of "Almaz"), and joyful ("Higher than Anyone Can Count"). My favorite cut is "Don't Wanna Be Normal," a declaration of living life on your own terms, set to a driving beat. After hearing this jam, you wanna do as Randy says and "grab a little glory." I call this album a "hidden treasure" because I bought it for "Don't Wanna Be Normal," and ended up lovin' every cut. Purchase this CD, and uncover the wonder of Randy Crawford. I guarantee you'll be hooked. A great album.

Finally, after 15 years!!
I can't tell you the joy I feel as I listen to this CD. It's been a long time coming. I first bought this on cassette in 1986 and promptly wore it out. Since then, I've been looking for it on CD only to find out that Warner Bros. in all of their infinite wisdom would not release it. This album was my introduction to the wonderful Randy Crawford. In the 15 years that I've been waiting to get this, I've grabbed up everything else she's recorded and loved every one of them. However, there was an emptiness because I couldn't find the one that started it all for me. Well, here it is in all of its splendor. This is a MUST HAVE for any Randy Crawford fan....

Best Randy Crawford album
This album contains the best group of songs that Randy Crawford has ever recorded. Every track is excellent, and the material is very diverse. There is searing emotion with a driving beat on "Can't Stand the Pain" and "Actual Emotional Love". "(I Love You) Higher Than Anyone Can Count" is a sweet love ballad. "Desire" and "Overnight" are two groovin' dance tracks where Randy really rocks. "Almaz" is a beautiful song that no one else could sing as movingly as does Crawford. "Betcha (I can make you mine)" is a catchy mid-tempo number with a nice beat. The last track on the album, "Don't Wanna Be Normal", is an anthem for all the non-conformists among us. It's a mesmerizing song with some great lyrics: "We've only got a short time to grab a little glory. I wanna have a good life -- not a sad story. To stay within the boundaries seems so formal; if that's what life is, I don't wanna be normal".
