This fine mystery series came to radio in 1942 and lasted 14 years. For most of its run, The Whistler was played by Bill Forman and the eerie 13-note whistle was whistled by Dorothy Roberts. Nice Introduction To The Series
This 3-disc "Whistler" set offers a good sampling of 6 episodes. When I first hear these, I was taken by The Whistler's narrative & delivery, and purchased additional sets from Radio Spirits. The only drawback is the "Custom Build Blond" episode is the only "strange story" exclusive to this set; the other 5 episodes are part of other collections. Anyway, if you enjoy hearing characters getting caught in their own web, and a host who ranks along with those from "Mysterious Traveller" & "Inner Sanctum", this is a good place to start. "Yesss..."
Worth the money
I love this collection, however it is not digitally remastered so there are a few shows that are really hard to listen to because there is a lot of static and background noise, but I think it is still worth it.
Nostalgic
This set of Whistler recordings are extraordinary, I could not stop listening until the end. The clarity is good and it takes you back in time when radio shows were all the craze. I really enjoyed the series and would refer this to all mystery lovers. A real treat.
