Surprised & Delighted
We orded this video for our 23 month old son whose gone "train-crazy!" We already have several videos which feature steam railroads and we are frankly tired of watching them. When this video arrived we were looking forward to something new--we were looking forward to a new video! But, we were surprised and delighted with the beauty of the trains in this video which are definitely at a much higher esthetic level than we'd seen in other steam-train productions. There are several trains filmed crossing river bridges where the train is reflected in the water. There are cold weather shots where the engine is seen emerging from its own self-created cloud. There is Fall colored foliage--a bright yellow and orange, to contrast with the black engines. There's a shot of four steam locomotives linked and all blowing smoke together. Many trains are with multiple engines. There are Snow-blowers and Snow-plows at work clearing the tracks. We have riden on several of the trains featured and it was fun to pick out our old friends: the Durango to Silverton in Colorado and the Cumbres and Toltec in Colorado and New Mexico, for example. There's a surreal quality to this video. The steam engines really seem alive. Oh, and before I forget, our 23 month old son loves this video too.
Excellent Train Movie
This movie has been loved by my 7 year old son , my 6 year old nephew, and now my 19 months old son who must watch it a minimum of 3 times a day. There is no narration or music to clutter it up. Just trains, trains and more trains with lots of wonderful train noises. Interesting for parents to watch as well. Great scenes of mountains and snow, tunnels and bridges. Highly recommended
Visually captivating and rich
This is a favorite video of our 3 year old son and his parents! This is all visuals and sounds; no narration or music. Its a fresh break from the usual young child's videos, in terms of inane music, narration or actors. Just compelling shots of trains in all seasons and settings, with no fast cuts, and interesting shots.
