Wow! This book is just incredible. It is a must-have for siblings, friends, family members, & schools. This is a great book for newly-diagnosed families. Not only does it break down autism on a kid-friendly level, but the last few pages are geared toward adults & go fairly in-depth. GREAT BOOK!

The FIRST book to read if your child is suspected of or has been diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder.

Wonderful for therapists as well as at home. This toy is just plain fun, but can easily be incorporated into therapy (perform task, reward by winding up Thomas so he can ride around the track). The best part about this toy is how easily it cleans up, everything folds in the carrying case, & goes anywhere. Great whenever there is a wait.

We start out with MegaBlocks in the early years, then come preschool time we move to Legos. The Duplo series is perfect for 3 year olds. Plenty of opportunity for discussion & interaction, color recognition, counting...and FUN!

Great for help with sorting & fine motor skills. Use this toy for counting & colors as well. A great, durable wooden toy. I recommend most Melissa & Doug products. They have a knack for developing classic-yet-new toys that are great for special-needs kids. We love their puzzles too.

Sound, lights, & music! Every Thomas fan needs this phone. It is a great toy as it grows with your child. The child can simply hear music & sounds, or as they get older, be quizzed on the trains.

Our child gets so relaxed playing with trains. Any kid will love a set like this, as well as the add'l accessories & track. Parents will love playing too--devising their own track set-ups and having fun being a kid again! This set allows for interaction between the trains to work on social skills. Also, it's fun to act out stories from your favorite Thomas book or movie.

Fun game, easy to learn, no reading required. Perfect for families with children 1-3 years apart. Also, for beginners, the concept of 'winner' can be altered as needed. This company makes a few other outstanding games as well.

Great brush set. Perfect for creating new & one-of-a-kind creations. Also can be used as a therapist's tool for children with tactile defensiveness. Alex and Melissa & Doug make lots of fabulous art supplies. Another great one to check out--the spill-proof paint cups.

We love Hi-5 in our house! The music is bearable to parents, and the kids love the bright colors, upbeat songs, & fun cast. The segments each teach a quick lesson on colors, feelings, etc. and kids will learn some new dance moves as well.

These are great because they fold up (& away!) when play is done. You can work on gross motor skills, coordination, turn-taking, and a whole bunch of other fun stuff. The whole family will enjoy this!

Great for all those sensory work-outs! Children who need extra sensory input will love this trampoline.

Better than the other stuff you find in tubs! PlayFoam has a rice-krispy-treat-like texture. Lots of fun, and a great toy for the OT who works with children with tactile defensiveness.

Our child's favorite thing to pick out of our sensory bucket!! I will caution however, for kids with strong hand grip, avoid this. Our older child did manage to pop one (in the car no less!).

Any storage bin will work for this, it can be any size, depending on what you are going to use it. It can become a cheap alternative for a ball pit or for water play. You can also make a ball pit using a large (big enough for your child to fit in) cardboard box & fill w/ balls. We had an inflatable pit, but it took up tons of space & our dog deflated it. So, we now go for these alternatives!

Tony Attwood is incredible & for anyone wanting to learn more about Asperger's, this is THE book to read.

I've yet to read this book, but it's on my list for next time I hit the bookstore. I've seen documentaries with Daniel Tammet & he is amazing. Looking forward to reading about his first-hand experiences.
