Lakim Shabazz was among the originators of a phenomenon that has become increasingly prevalent in black American society today – the awareness of past cultures and the adoption of the Nation of Islam’s ideals as a way of life. Contains a remix of the ‘80s underground classic "Black Is Back" from Lakim Shabazz’s original full-length release Pure Righteousness. Lakim Shabazz was an original member of the 45 King’s Flavor Unit alongside Queen Latifah and Apache. Shabazz is also known for his production skills, and lent his talents to Diamond D. & The Psychotic Neurotics’ Stunts, Blunts and Hip Hop in the late ‘90s.

Conscious Hip-Hop at its Finest!
Peace! This is an EXCELLENT piece of work which is actully his second album. His first album "Pure Righteousness" (check the video out on Youtube) is also a gem (if you can find it). This album starts off with one of the album's hottest tracks "Lost Tribe of Shabazz". I'm also addicted to the tracks "Black is Black" and "No Justice, No Peace". He also holds it down for the ladies on "Need Some Lovin" and "Ladies".

Not every track is a stand out, but by and large the good far outweighs the bad.

Those who remember what REAL Hip-Hop sounded like back in the 90's and long for that sound; those who remember RIGHTEOUS Hip-Hop and the righteous artists who manifested them (particularly from the culture of the 5% Nation of Islam) this album is definitely for you. A welcome breath of fresh air to the commercialization that has unfortunately taken over my beloved genre of music.

Underground Rap Classic
The Lost Tribe of Shabazz is a shining gem of underground rap music. If you didn't cop the flavor unit joint than this is a good place to start. (If you're new to him) Hands down this has to be one of the most overlooked albums ever. Do yourself a favor and give this a shot. With time it will grow on you and you too will appreciate this cool record. Peace
