The Beatles on Apple RecordsThe Beatles on Apple Records by Bruce Spizer
Buy new: $31.50 / Used from: $25.99
Counting his other label-themed books, Bruce Spizer has done a great job of putting together the Beatles' commercial recording history in 6 volumes, including the new "The Beatles Swan Song." Also recommended - "The Beatles Are Coming!"
The Beatles AnthologyThe Beatles Anthology by Beatles
Buy new: $37.80 / Used from: $14.25
The Beatles by The Beatles. Surprisingly candid, it's fun to read how each Beatle remembers things differently. Worth it just for the photos.
The Beatles Literary AnthologyThe Beatles Literary Anthology

Insights by professional writers, friends, and everyone in between. Perfect if you want a quick read because each section stands on its own.
The Complete "Beatles" ChronicleThe Complete "Beatles" Chronicle by Mark Lewisohn

Another classic from Lewisohn, this volume covering all aspects of the The Beatles lives, professional and otherwise. You'll still want his "Abbey Road Recording Sessions" though.
Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of the BeatlesHere, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of the Beatles by Geoff Emerick
Buy used from: $16.87
The long awaited book from The Beatles' AR engineer. Although Emerick's memory of certain events is questionable, there is enough of real value here to make this one of the best recent Beatle books.
Magical Mystery Tours: My Life with the BeatlesMagical Mystery Tours: My Life with the Beatles by Tony Bramwell
Buy used from: $0.83
One of the better insider accounts of the Beatles' career. Of course Mr. Bramwell can't be completely objective, but he sheds new light on some things, particularly Yoko's puzzling influence on John.
Lennon Remembers: The Full Rolling Stone Interviews from 1970Lennon Remembers: The Full Rolling Stone Interviews from 1970 by Jann S. Wenner
Buy new: $15.60 / Used from: $2.19
An angry Lennon, with Yoko present, lets loose on everything from his childhood to the end of The Beatles. It's interesting to imagine what he would think of this interview today. A fascinating read.
Revolution in the Head: The Beatles' Records and the SixtiesRevolution in the Head: The Beatles' Records and the Sixties by Ian MacDonald
Buy used from: $7.49
Possibly the most intelligent, coherent analysis of the recorded work of The Beatles.
The Beatles: 10 Years That Shook the WorldThe Beatles: 10 Years That Shook the World by DK Publishing
Buy used from: $58.81
One of the better books about The Beatles that I've read. Exhaustive, entertaining and intelligent, it covers facets of The Beatles 10 year run that are often overlooked.
The Beatles Live (Book With Record)The Beatles Live (Book With Record) by Mark Lewisohn
Buy used from: $14.99
Mark Lewisohn's classic...still the best accounting of The Beatles' touring years.
John, Paul, George, Ringo and Me: The Real Beatles StoryJohn, Paul, George, Ringo and Me: The Real Beatles Story by Tony Barrow
Buy new: $14.49 / Used from: $1.49
One more perspective of what it was like to be part of The Beatles' inner circle. Nothing earth-shattering; mainly further affirmation of what most Beatle fans already know or suspect.
Way Beyond Compare: The Beatles' Recorded Legacy, 1957-1965Way Beyond Compare: The Beatles' Recorded Legacy, 1957-1965 by John C. Winn
Buy used from: $102.12
This book covers it all - concerts, radio & TV performances/interviews, newsreel footage, studio sessions. Also recommended: Vol. 2 - "That Magic Feeling" and Vol.3 - "Lifting Latches".
The Beatles: The BiographyThe Beatles: The Biography by Bob Spitz
Buy used from: $4.69
The much publicized career-spanning bio; this is another imperfect (the photo sections in particular are riddled with inaccuracies) but compelling addition to the Beatles canon.
"Beatles" from Cavern to Star-Club"Beatles" from Cavern to Star-Club by Hans Olaf Gottfridsson
Buy used from: $78.97
A great book about The Beatles' recordings before they made it big. It's a big book (460+ pages) due to the detailed, hard work of the author and the many recordings made by the early Beatles.
Get Back: The Unauthorized Chronicle of the Beatles' " Let It Be" DisasterGet Back: The Unauthorized Chronicle of the Beatles' " Let It Be" Disaster by Doug Sulpy
Buy used from: $47.91
The best account yet of why the Beatles broke up, unwittingly told by the Beatles themselves through hours of recording for the ill-fated "Get Back" LP and the "Let It Be" movie.
The Writings of John Lennon: In His Own Write & A Spaniard in the WorksThe Writings of John Lennon: In His Own Write & A Spaniard in the Works by John Lennon
Buy used from: $21.00
Lennon's writings aren't for everyone, but are an acquired taste that will have you laughing out loud on every page. A fascinating journey with a truly original mind. Also check out "Skywriting By Word of Mouth And Other Writings, Including 'The Ballad of John and Yoko.'" This latest of Lennon's books was of course, sadly unfinished.
A Day in the Life: The Music and ArtistryA Day in the Life: The Music and Artistry by Mark Hertsgaard
Buy used from: $5.55
A somewhat underrated book about the music of The Beatles that doesn't get weighted down with boring technical language. Each album gets a chapter.

Eight Arms to Hold You: The Solo Beatles CompendiumEight Arms to Hold You: The Solo Beatles Compendium by Chip Madinger
Buy used from: $70.80
An amazingly thorough account of each Beatles' solo work up to the year 2000. And don't look for an updated version any time soon; the author has stated nothing like that is in the works.
The Beatles: After the Break-Up 1970-2000 : A Day-By-Day DiaryThe Beatles: After the Break-Up 1970-2000 : A Day-By-Day Diary by Keith Badman
Buy used from: $13.50
What happened after The Dream was over? This book tells you in hard-to-put-down detail.
The Complete Beatles' Audio GuideThe Complete Beatles' Audio Guide by Doug Sulpy
Doug has dedicated a big chunk of his life to perfecting a product desired by a relatively small, but loyal, clientele. His books are dedicating to making sense out of The Beatles' bootleg recordings (Beatlegs). His most up-to-date is this one. He's also started a hardback reprint series of his old newsletter "The 910". I highly recommend it, so if you are curious, Google it and check it out.
John Lennon: Listen To This BookJohn Lennon: Listen To This Book by John Blaney
Buy used from: $499.00
I regret this book is so expensive and hard to find. Blaney reviews all John's solo material with great insight and intelligence. It also has black and white photos of most of the material. It includes interview CDs as well as "Books with discs". Also, look for Blaney's McCartney discography, "The Songs He Was Singing."
The Art and Music of John LennonThe Art and Music of John Lennon by Peter Doggett
Buy used from: $33.25
At the risk of redundancy, I'm including this book, not just because it's a good read, but it includes John's Beatle work, unlike Blaney's.
Here Comes the Sun: The Spiritual And Musical Journey of George HarrisonHere Comes the Sun: The Spiritual And Musical Journey of George Harrison by Joshua Greene
Buy used from: $19.99
A good start on readers interested in Harrison's career without investing a lot of time. Hopefully, this book will lead them to more in depth books by Simon Leng and Elliot J. Huntley.
Beatles for Sale: How Everything They Touched Turned to GoldBeatles for Sale: How Everything They Touched Turned to Gold by John Blaney
Buy new: $14.96 / Used from: $8.45
Another essential book by John Blaney - this one a good look at how The Beatles unprecedented, ground-breaking career created the massive music industry most people take for granted today.
