![]() | Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian
Buy used from: $5.40 O'Brien's saga is wonderfully written with beautiful, fluid prose, and very-well researched. I even have the cookbook, "Lobscouse and Spotted Dog" which sets out recipes to all of the foods referred to in O'Brien's novels...admittedly, not all are appealing (Millers Stew...ugh).
|
![]() | The Four Just Men - Edgar Wallace by Edgar Wallace
Buy new: $14.95 / Used from: $5.94 When this was originally published, it was without the final chapter - set in about 1900's crime fighters/anarchists who took the law into their own hands (but cerebral). There was a competition to guess the method by which the Secretary of State was murdered - a good, fun read.
