Book Description
Superfoods are vibrant, nutritionally dense foods that have recently become widely available and which offer tremendous dietary and healing potential. In this lively, illustrated overview, well-known raw-foods guru David Wolfe profiles delicious and incredibly nutritious plant products such as goji berries, hempseed, cacao beans (raw chocolate), maca, spirulina, bee products, and a host of others. As powerful sources of clean protein, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, good fats and oils, essential fatty and amino acids, and other nutrients, they represent a uniquely promising piece of the nutritional puzzle. Each superfood is described in detail, accompanied by easy and delicious recipes. This accessible guide presents persuasive arguments, based on sound science, for the pivotal role of superfoods in promoting nutritional excellence, health and well-being, beauty enhancement, sustainable agriculture, and the transformation of diet, lifestyle, and planet.

A Q&A with David Wolfe

Question: What are superfoods?

David Wolfe: Superfoods are the greatest foods identified by the greatest civilizations in the history of the world. They are foods that have a whole array of tricks under their sleeve. They are extremely easy to use and agree with a lot of different body types and metabolisms.

Question: What contributions are you making in the world? What are you here to share with us?

David Wolfe: My goal is to make raw foods, superfoods, superherbs, and the best chocolate ever an option for everyone on the planet. I want to make becoming healthy simpler, easier, and more fun than ever before.

Question: Tell us about the goji berry. What is in it? How about the cacao bean? What is in cacao? Isn’t this the food that we make chocolate out of?

David Wolfe: The goji berry is a complete protein source with extraordinary levels of antioxidants, levels of carotenes (according to studies, the more carotenes you eat, the longer you live) which have been shown to be present in primates. The goji berry is easy to eat for people of all ages. It also assists with the digestion of other food. It is considered the number one medicinal herb in Chinese medicine--which has a 5,000 year history of about 8,000 herbs. It improves our ability to secrete HGH naturally and it the only food known to do so.

Cacao has a higher concentration of magnesium, chromium, iron, and antioxidants than any food in the world. Cacao is also exceedingly rich in copper, zinc, and manganese. Cacao contains fat-soluble forms of all of these minerals, which is unusual. Research has proven this food is associated with longevity. The cacao bean is chocolate, chocolate is cacao--you cannot have chocolate without cacao. Basically, chocolate is a nut butter made out of cacao beans. Chocolate contains PEAs, chemicals associated with falling in love, anandamide, the bliss chemical, and theobromine, which improves our cardiovascular health. Contrary to some opinions, cacao is very low in caffeine.

Great, In-Depth Information on Some Super Nutritious Foods4
David Wolfe provides very detailed information about some specific "superfoods" and also provides scientific rationale (sometimes down to the molecular level) about why these foods are so beneficial for us. This book is very informative and I like that it also provides practical ways in which to consume the superfoods, providing recipes and recommended dosages. However, he also lists a lot of very "impractical" recipes using very obscure and expensive ingredients that most people will not find in their pantries, even if they are already a practicing raw-foodist (like me). While I find the information very enlightening, I also find a lot of blatant advertising for David's "Sunfood" brand of products and his "Longevity Now" program. I don't know about you, but when I find a sales pitch interwoven into the pages of what should be a purely informative book, it immediately causes me to have some doubts regarding the credibility of the material. So, while the information on superfoods is very good, I was not impressed with the advertising thrown in with it. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.

good, but information is free elsewhere5
On youtube, theres a talk where david wolfe gives information about the top 10 herbs, and top ten superfoods, at queens. Search exotic superfoods david wolfe. Albeit, he left some foods out on that talk compared to this book like yacon, but all in all the principles are the same. Its more like top 18 herbs and top 18 foods.

Also, go to google book previews. And just type in some random superfood or superherb as he calls them, and you could get enough free information about anything you are after. He doesnt mention any herbs in this book like he did in the youtube talk. Like schizandra, (schisandra), tulsi, reishi, cordyceps etc. Some say goji and maca are herbs, but you know what i mean.

and since i constantly watch youtube videos of him, he constantly changes his mind which is the top 10 herbs etc. And in my opinion he just goes with latest study, maybe raw milk is good for you, then he says it isnt etc etc. He comes out with a new herb every week

Buy the book, watch all his youtube videos too, they contain enough information, mostly uploaded by audience members .

At least its printed on vegetable oil from landfills. Maybe the next book will be superherbs.

worth the 5 stars though.

AMAZING!!!5
David has done it again. This man knows so much about nutrition it's mind boggling! He is a shining, living example of what happens when people eat these superfoods because he is total boundless energy all the time. I interviewed him for my radio show the other day and just talking with him energized me beyond belief. I have incorporated many of these superfoods into my diet and it has doubled my energy levels. I love the goji berries and of course raw chocolate the best. Also the coconut oil has truly helped me to look and feel ten years younger. I believe this book will help transform your body, your mind, and your emotions. When I do what David says, I get immediate and life transforming benefits. I am so grateful to him.
