Crush spices into a flavorful dry rub for meats or grind garlic, hot chilis, and lemongrass into a spicy Thai curry with this miniature mortar and pestle. The four-piece set includes a tiny 4-inch-diameter bowl that is just big enough to mash a single or double portion of ingredients, a 6-3/4-inch-long pestle, and two sieves--one with fine mesh and the other with ultra-fine. All pieces are made of durable 18/10 stainless-steel, which won't stain when crushing colorful spices such as cumin seed and won't absorb even the strongest food flavors or odors. The exterior of the mortar is brilliantly polished while the interior is brushed so scratches from grinding are not so obvious. The pestle has a textured surface on its working end to provide a little extra crushing power and a knob at the base of the handle to keep hands from sliding off. The screens are useful for cooks who are particular about the particle size of their ground spices or herbs and provide two different size options.
