Good but Not Great
I purchased this Civita backpack in Navy Blue, to take on a 3 week trip to Italy, and it did it's job. I used it as my purse carry on for the plane. It held everything I asked of it on a daily basis, and wasn't terribly uncomfortable, though the straps did wear on the shoulders. It was nice and light weight. Most of my travel was by train and this pack was toted and shoved quite a bit, though always by my side.
When I got home and went to wash it (boy, did it need a bath) I noticed a hole in the outside zipper compartment, where the fabric had just worn through. There was also lots of fraying at the seams. I didn't wash it for fear that it would fall apart. Now I know I didn't pay a lot for this bag, but I did expect it to last longer than 3 weeks.
So I really liked the bag (good design), but feel that the material, and workmanship could definitely be bumped up a notch, or 3. IMHO
A true work horse!
I lugged this backpack all over Scandinavia and Russia this summer. It's lightweight on its own, and the low profile (no "techie" extras) deters thieves. The shoulder straps cut slightly into my armpits after wearing it all day long, but I've yet to find a backpack that doesn't. This one's padded better than most, and has a surprisingly large capacity. It's become my favorite day pack.
great compact bag; too small for bigger frames
If you are a person with a relatively slight build, this is a fantastic travel companion. It is incredibly light, built well and surprisingly roomy, with well-designed pockets. It helps to keep something rigid like a folder, small laptop or a notebook in the main compartment while wearing it so that the back does not slouch, otherwise its loose construction is very adaptable to whatever you're carrying. It is a bit small, however, for someone with a large frame-- the straps don't extend far enough to give enough slack without it riding up on your back. Still, without any other daypack, this is still a nice companion to carry without taking up space in your luggage.
