I liked everything about this book for the pre-school set except for the hip-hop costume featured near the end of the book. Thankfully, that costume meant nothing to my granddaughter when we read the book and she asked about it.I don't approve of some of the hip-hop music anyway, so why would I want her exposed to that.

Hello Kitty's Friends Are A Bit Strange...4
I love Hello Kitty and my daughters love her too, so it seemed a nice idea to pick up this Hello Kitty Halloween themed board book. On the plus side, it has some cute illustrations, although the Halloween theme is just not prevalent enough for my tastes, my two girls didn't seem to mind.

The "story" is mostly about Hello Kitty's friends suggesting various costumes she could wear on Halloween based on what they think about her. Unfortunately the book gives off the feel that it was meant to be a "what do you want to be when you grow up?" kind of book instead of a "what do you want to be for HALLOWEEN" story... some of the "costumes" her friends suggest include being a BAKER and a VETERINARIAN. The others make more sense (BALLERINA, CHEERLEADER, etc). Kitty decides on a costume, and invites her friends to a Halloween party. One of these friends comes as a TREE. That's just weird.

Overall its a cute book with vibrant art and graphics and Hello Kitty giving the final moral of the story (you can be anything you want to be). Which is good for Halloween and selecting a career for when you "grow up".
