* 3 full-length practice tests with detailed answer explanations

* Content review for each of the subjects covered on the test
* Effective test-taking strategies
Approximately 1.3 million students take the ASVAB each year, including 400,000 recruits and 900,000 high school students.
The ASVAB is offered year-round at more than 14,000 high schools as well as recruiting stations in either paper-and-pencil or computer adaptive format (70% take the computer version).
ASVAB is a battery comprising 10 tests that measure verbal, mathematics, and science/technical skills and knowledge. The AFQT, a composite of ASVAB tests, measures verbal (word knowledge and paragraph comprehension) and mathematics (arithmetic reasoning and mathematics knowledge) abilities.
In addition to determining enlistment eligibility, ASVAB scores are combined into composites and used to assign new recruits into military occupations (e.g., mechanical, electronics, or administrative jobs).
The ASVAB is given once or twice a year at thousands of high schools across the country. The computer-based ASVAB is also given year round at Military Entrance Processing Stations.

Customer Reviews
Got a higher score than 99% of the other people at MEPS!
I bought this book about a month ago and started studying about two weeks before the test. I concentrated on the math first then the science part and then the others. I had gotten a 52 on the practice test 2 months ago, got a 77 on the real test! Most of the other people who I talked to and took the test at MEPS with me got lower scores, A lot lower! LOL! I could have gotten a higher score if I had studied and practiced the book more but I was too lazy. Worth every penny I paid, so I HIGHLY recommended it to everyone who wants to join the military, I joined the Air Force. BTW make sure your familiar with MEPS, the people who do the medical examination on you, all I have to say is that those people are horrible!!!
Just took the ASVAB - DON'T BUY THIS!!!
This book does not prepare you for the current computerized ASVAB.
The real ASVAB has 10 sections, not 8 (as outlined in this "up to date" book).
This book completely neglected the "assembling objects" section of the ASVAB!
This book also had incorrect test time lengths as well as number of questions per test section!
It also did a very poor job of preparing me for the electrical section, as nothing in the real ASVAB was remotely relative to what was covered in this book.
My advice is to find the most recently published ASVAB-prep book that covers all 10 sections of the ASVAB.
Great confidence builder!
Before taking the ASVAB I wasn't really sure what to expect. The online practice tests are nice but are usually outdated. This product was bought for me as a gift and I was very pleased with it. The book will first have you do a practice test to let you know how you do in each subtest. After this diagnostic test you will go through each topic and learn how to attack questions and what to expect on the ASVAB. Obviously this guide cant help you achieve the score your aiming for without you dedicating some time to actually study and do things properly. The ASVAB is easy, if you passed high school you can pass it. This guide to the ASVAB is great for people who are not sure what to expect or for those who would like to shore up on the topics and have confidence when taking the actual test. The Kaplan guide helped me achieve an 88 on the ASVAB.
