Customer Reviews

I love it!5
This is a very attractive Bible. The cover has a great design, and feels nice to the touch. The size of the font is nice as well. This edition does not contain a large number of cross-references, however they are easy enough to attain with other resources. Although it is definitely not pocket-sized, this Bible is very light, and is not a burden to carry, unlike most study Bibles. It also has a ribbon marker attached to it, which is handy for marking a place that you want to quickly open to.

The ESV translation style is excellent. The wording is very precise and accurate to the originals, as well as pleasing to the ear. I would not recommend the ESV for a beginning reader, but anyone at least 12 years old should not have any trouble with it. There is the occasional word that I want to look up in a dictionary because I am not certain of its precise meaning, but the language is much more modern than the KJV.

The ESV also includes notes wherever the translators had some difficulty reaching a consensus. These notes provide a literal rendering where the English would not flow correctly, or possible alternatives if the translation is controversial.

Overall, I am very pleased with this Bible. Although I will still make use of my NASB Study Bible, I will take my ESV with me when I go places because it is light and portable. I will also use it as my primary reading Bible because I love the eloquent and accurate language. Coupled with some reference books, the ESV is a very effective Bible for study and for devotional reading.

My favorite Bible to read is now my favorite Bible to carry.5
About a year ago, I began using the English Standard Version (ESV) after using the NASB for over 20 years. I consider the ESV to be an excellent translation with unparalleled accuracy. A few months ago, I purchased this TruTone version and I absolutely love it. The leather is soft yet durable. I looks fantastic, and the craftsmanship of the binding is impeccable. I plan on giving this Bible as gifts to family and friends. The margins are not big enough for me to use as my study Bible, but this is the Bible that I carry every day in my briefcase.

the size of the Bible itself is good, as well
