ICD-9-CM 2009
I just received my compact verion of ICD-9-CM and I love it! This is my first time using the Compact version over the standard size (spiral bound)version.
The Tabular section is color coded. The Neoplasm table is in the same format as you would find in the regular sized edition. I really like this little compact book!!!
A "must have" for coders
If you are just starting out in coding or get "coding error" returns, this Coding bible is designed for you. Buy it new or buy it used, just buy it. It takes most of the guess work out of choosing the right code, meaning more of the claims you create will be clean. And yes, it's expensive, but anything that lessens the fatigue of doing claims is priceless.
I bought this book used, hoping it would be helpful and easy to use. It is. The soft-covered, non-spiral version is divided in half. The first half provides the correct diagnosis code for most every disease and ailment. These are listed in a simple way, for example, to find the correct code for abdominal pain you look under "Pain" and choose the specific code for "Pain, abdominal". If you aren't positive a code is correct, just turn to the second half of the book and look up the code, it list the specifics and inclusives of every code. This book helps lower the claim-error rate. Just be sure also to crosscheck with the Provider if you choose a more specific code since that info must correspond to the service documentation.
In our office, I use this book every day, and so do our doctors. If you use MediSoft for your receivables, my tip is when you add new codes to the Dx list, enter the code description exactly as written in the ICD book. That way, you'll know which codes get more specific and will go look them up. Realizing how valuable this book turned out to be, I now plan on buying the CPT book to get correct procedure codes. Go buy this book.
Good seller
