motor caught on fire1
This saw has not seen very much use over the past year that I have owned it. Occasional tree trimming around the yard, and a few short logs.

Last week while cutting some 6" limbs into 16"lengths, the motor caught on fire. What a bad smell! Real scary. I wasn't prepared to put out a fire.

It appears that they have gone out of business and the company that bought the line did not purchase the liabilities--ie warranty

I guess I am out $120

STAY AWAY from Remington!!!

Great saw, no warranty service3
I bought this last October and got a few weekends of solid use in, cutting almost two cords, before packing it away for the winter. It was a good performer, easy to work with, good for relative newcomer (only my second saw) but able to handle moderately big and fairly hard woods. The toolless tightener is great, the saw easy to clean, it's easy to add and pour out oil, it's just generally great to work with.

Now the downside. I've probably gotten maybe 30 hours of use out of it, or less, only to find it's burned out. No special cause, just the engine started to spark during routine use (limbing, not even bucking!), and then stopped running.

No problem, it's not even eight months old, well within warranty, right? Unfortunately, the company's phone number is perpetually down due to "technical troubles". The nearest service center (two hours away from me) says the company is OUT OF BUSINESS. As a result, they can't get parts, and don't do warranty service.

I'm currently seeing if TrueValueSuperStore will offer an exchange or credit, and that's my last hope. If that's the situation now, it can only get worse in the future. While I am very pleased with the saw when it was working, I wouldn't buy it again due to the lack of any support behind it.

Well designed electric chain saw4
This is a well designed electric chain saw.
It is a replacement for my 20 inch gas powered saw.
It is much easier to use and cuts just as well.
If you have electric power near where you need to
do your cutting this is the way to go. No more mixing
fuel and yanking on that cord. A heavy duty extention
cord is a good idea.
