Beware of anti-science content in this "trojan" edition of Origin1
Darwin's Origin of Species is, of course, an icon of scientific writing. It is eminently readable and accessible to nonscientists and should be read by everyone. This edition though, the "150th Anniversary Edition" is an intentional Trojan horse published exclusively to serve as a vehicle for Ray Comfort's 50 page introduction. Comfort is a young-earth creationist and rejects Darwin's theory wholesale. Every reader of this review should contact Amazon and ask them to differentiate this edition of "Origin" from legitimate republications of this epic work. Comfort's 50 page intro is an embarrassing affront to scientific honesty and integrity. Anybody who has followed his antics on the internet knows not to take him seriously, but by attaching his name and his screed to Darwin's work, and then having Amazon market it as though it's a legitimate complement to this volume, is abhorrent.

Creationists have slumped to an all time low1
Ray Comfort must have thought he was doing something really smart here. For those of you who are familiar with Comfort, you may know him better as "The Banana Guy." For years now he has been writing books and producing creationist videos for his website "Way of the Master." He even famously claimed that modern bananas were proof of the existence of God and Intelligent Design. What he failed to understand was that modern bananas have evolved specifically due to domestication of wild bananas by humans in the past 5000 to 8000 years.

Now on to my critique of this book and why I think Comfort has reached an all time low.

Ray Comfort's attempts to disprove evolution haven't been quite as successful as he might have hoped. With no evidence to falsify evolution, he has taken to a different attack. Rather than debate the evidence FOR evolution, Comfort in his 50 page introduction has decided to attack the author, Charles Darwin himself.

Comfort accuses Darwin of being racist, of creating his theory of evolution out of spite for religion. He attempts to link Darwin with Nazism and Eugenics. He also suggests that the evidence for evolution is lacking but does not provide any evidence for his claims.

In conclusion, Ray Comfort once again fails to understand what makes a scientific theory correct. It's about the EVIDENCE. No matter how much you slander the author it has no bearing on the actual evidence to support a theory. Even if Ray Comfort could prove his accusations and ad hominem attacks on Darwin's character that would do nothing to falsify or invalidate the literally millions of pieces of fossil and DNA evidence that currently support the theory of evolution by natural selection.

This is the creationist version of Origin of Species1
Be warned! This version of Origin of Species has a forward by a guy named Ray Comfort, a well known "Young Earth" creationist. Mr. Comfort has absolutely no formal education in any field of science whatsoever, and he uses the introduction of this book in order to promote his religious belief that the universe is less than 10,000 years old.

Mr. Comfort gravely misunderstands, misrepresents, and plainly lies in the introduction of this book in order to make evolution look "evil."

So, please, if you want to get Darwin's work On the Origin of Species, choose a different version.
