Product Description

The Trinity doctrine of Christendom has long been defined as the ‘Unbreakable Chain.’ The hub of Christendom claims this teaching to be the “central doctrine of the Christian religion.” Presbyterian Pastor, Philip W. Butin states: “The Trinity is the heart and center of Christian faith.” Similarly, Protestant Theologian Dr. James R. White remarks: “We hang a person’s very salvation upon the acceptance of the doctrine … we must know, understand, and love the Trinity to be fully and completely Christian.” On the other hand, many in Christendom readily admit the complete opposite. Jesuit Edmund Fortman says: “There is no evidence that any sacred writer even suspected the existence of a [Trinity] within the Godhead … New Testament writers … give us no formal or formulated doctrine of the Trinity.” Anglican Priest, Tom Harpur admits: “You simply cannot find the doctrine of the Trinity set out anywhere in the Bible.” Hence, there is obvious disagreement and disunity amongst Trinitarians themselves. The reasons for their confusion are revealed through the uncovering of ‘weak links’ located in the Trinity Chain. Is Jesus Christ the ‘second person’ of God? Is Jesus Jehovah? The inspired word of God, the Bible, will reveal the answers in this book.

Good info, hard to sift through3
The general content of this book was good. Excellent research was done. I liked the use of many different bible translations. And there were a few points that I hadn't thought of. However... getting past all the spelling/grammatical errors (Spell check doesn't catch everything!), the book became repetitive and arduous. Several points are made numerous times, with identical quotes/references.

I had hoped to have my Dad - an intellectual trinitarian - read this, however, after reading it myself, I fear he will think it "poorly written" and then discount it.

A Book to be Referred to Time and Again5
This is a well rescearched book. It quotes scholars and references for and against the trinity. It starts by establishing that the trinity is a 4th Century doctrine formulated by the then existing "Christian" church. One quote that I especially enjoyed was on p.22 "A.H. Hanson, professor of theology at the University of Hull candidly admits,"No responsible New Testament scholar would claim that the doctrine of the Trinity was taught by Jesus, or preached by the earliest Christians. or conciously held by any writer of the New Testament. It was in fact slowly worked out in the course of the first few centuries in an attempt to give an intelligible doctrine of God." Robert George also holds trinitarians accountable to the Athanasian creed which holds all parts of the trinity co-equal none before or after another. He uses many Bible translations in this work, primarily the American Standard Bible,(p. 1901) which freely uses the Name of Jehovah in the Hebrew Scriptures. He also discusses that there is no scholarly evidence for the removal of Jehovah's Name from the Hebrew Scriptures. pp 52,53. Interestingly the word Hallelujah, meaning Praise Jah You People! (Jah a shortened form of Jehovah) is found in most translations in Revelation 19: 1-6 four times. This includes the popular New International Version. Later in the book is a section on the pagan origin of the cross. It discusses the original meaning of the Greek word stauros as meaning an upright stake. In easy to read English, I highly recommend this book for any serious student of the Bible.

This book is a must for a Christian's Theocratic Library!5
Mr. George presents many well documented and Bible based reasons as to the errors of the trinity doctrine, which, Mr. George says are 'Weak Links.' Hundreds of Bible verses are used from almost 80 different Bible translations. That in itself is commendable. He quotes well known Trinitarian scholars who, surprisingly, admit there is no trinity teaching to be found in the Bible. He uses well over 600 footnotes to prove his points. Mr. George asks: "Is Jesus Christ the 'second person' of God?" "Is Jesus the revealed Jehovah from the Old Testament?" These questions deserve biblical answers for all Christians. Mr. George comes accross as sincere and well intentioned to this reader. I found myself searching in my own copy of the Bible as if he and I were having a one on one discussion. In the end he leaves the choice up to each individual. He also adds extra explanations on the cross asking: "Is it Biblical?" This book belongs in every Christians library!
