Customer Reviews
Great bible!
After using the same Bible for 16 years, it was time for a new one, and for me, there was only one choice. The NIV Ryrie Study Bible provides great historical context, cool timelines, good cross-references, good commentary and great ease of use. I love the maps as well. The reason that I gave this 4-stars instead of 5-stars, is that I feel there could be more commentary. Currently, only selected verses on each page have extra information and I'd love to see more. A great Bible overall.
Best Prophecy Study Bible There Is
I bought a Ryrie Study Bible in 1978 when I was in the Army in Alabama. I fell out of faith for personal reasons and did not buy another one until 1990. I sold my first RYRIE to a wild woman friend of my ex-wife who used to be a stripper and was trying to find Christ! I have used the Ryrie Study Bible for 15 years. It seemd to fit in well with the study methods described in Rick Warren's DYNAMIC METHODS OF BIBLE STUDY. Since then I have done over 25 Bible studies ranging in length from 50 pages to 3600. I am a layman who was brought up in the Catholic church. I even emailed one of my studies to the Vatican on the devil for kicks.
I have looked for what I would call a good "prophecy study bible" for years. I have gone through the Scofield Study Bible, since he is supposed to be the father of the modern Bible prophecy movement; yet I think the Ryrie Study Bible is far better. I have four other different types of study Bibles, yet the Ryrie is the best. Plus I like the absence of those little moralizing comments in the footnotes. The outline superimposed over the text of the scripture is also helpful. The cross references are in the margin. I have studied seven old Testament prophets including Ezekiel and Revelation. And I think this is a really great Bible! The Best!
