great info but stylistically dated.....
Sewing with Vintage Linens is a great idea book for crafters who buy many old linens, damaged quilts, bedsheets, handkerchiefs and the like and are looking for inspiration on how to incorporate these into projects.
The book contains info on finding, cleaning and cutting up old linens as well as 30 projects on how to use these items. The projects range from very simple, like sachets and pincushions, to more intermediate projects like quilts and ottomans. I don't feel there are any projects that a eager beginner up to moderate sewer could not complete.
The reason for the 3 star review is two fold: 1-too many projects where things readers have seen plenty before in other publications-like pillows, sachets, and drape covering of chairs with old tablecloths. I was looking for more than run of the mill in a book with such a specific use as using old linens. Particularly missing was the use of linens in ANY adult clothing ideas.
2-not so important but worth noting is that the projects are all in the primitive or shabby chic style-which is going out of fashion for the most part. But I think a creative reader can see how the ideas can be applied for a more modern style.
All in all, I'd still recommend this interesting addition to the recycler, vintage crafters library.

Grandmother of five
After seeing Samantha McNesby's designs in numerous crafting magazines over the years, I knew that I would enjoy her new book. It's very well written and has easy to follow directions. I highly recommend it to those who love to sew.
